Serve a Meal at Jean's Place (age 18+) *Hands On*

Support a meal for the ladies at Jean's Place! Volunteers will be asked to bring ingredients to contribute to the meal and the group will prepare dinner on-site to serve to the ladies living at Jean's Place. The volunteer leader will contact each volunteer to instruct you on what ingredients to bring. We're counting on you! It is imperative that if you sign up for this project, you intend to be there and provide the ingredients that are assigned to you. When volunteers don't show up, we're not able to make the meal. If you are unable to attend, please let your Volunteer Leader know ASAP! Please note: no volunteer will be turned away due to lack of resources. If bringing a food item is a hardship for you, please alert the project leader. Everyone will then help facilitate a game of bingo, which will include prizes for the winners! Join us for this unique experience! Volunteers are asked to refrain from wearing strong fragrances, such as perfume and cologne, during their volunteer shift. A part of Transition Projects, Jean's Place is a transitional housing program for adult, single homeless women. Project Requirements: Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older to attend this project. If you plan to bring guests you MUST reserve slots for them. The best way to do this is to create a Volunteer Team, then sign up your team for this project. IMPORTANT NOTE: You are responsible for ensuring that everyone signed up through your team attends - only sign up team members who have confirmed their availability. Teams that repeatedly sign up, but do not show up or show up with fewer volunteers than they signed up, may be removed. Fall Repair Cafe and Clothing Swap

Join us at The East County Library in Room 2H/J to get your broken items fixed by community volunteers for free. Plus, "shop" for gently used clothing at our free clothing swap. Underground parking is available at the library and overflow parking is available at the City Hall parking lot across the MAX tracks. This event is hosted by the Coalition of Gresham Neighborhood Associations, Gresham Free Swaps and the City of Gresham.

Repair Item check-in

Check-in is from 10:00 am-noon. Checked-in items will be repaired until 1:00 pm.

Types of repair items
  • Torn clothing, missing buttons and other fabric items – including sock and sweater mending.
  • Broken lamps, fans, clocks, vacuums, small kitchen appliances.
  • Broken jewelry clasps, earring hooks. No fine jewelry.
  • Manual garden tool sharpening: pruning shears, loppers, shovels and spades. No handsaws, knives or power tools.
  • Electronics repairs and computer cleaning and tune-ups. These categories generally take longer, and may be limited to one item per person.

Please note: bikes, televisions, microwaves, small engines and fine jewelry are not repairable at this event.

What to expect
  • Try to bring anything that may be needed to repair your item: parts, buttons, matching thread, power cords, batteries, instructions manuals, etc.
  • We try to help everyone who brings an item. If participants bring multiple items (allowed), we can only work on one item at a time and may be able to fix up to one item per person.
  • Our volunteers will do their best to repair your item, but some repairs may be too complicated or require resources unavailable at the event.
  • There may be a wait, depending on the number of repairs.
Clothing swap

Coats and winter wear in good condition is this event's featured swap item. "Shop" for previously loved clothes and bring some to share with others.

  • Find original styles not in stores.
  • Extend the lifespan of clothes already in circulation.
  • Be environmentally friendly and economical by wearing secondhand items.
  • Clothing donation or Repair Cafe participation isn't required to participate in the swap. Please bring your own bag. Master recyclers will be available to answer questions about reuse and waste prevention.

  • Organizer: WeBike
  • Schedule: Come and go anytime between 6-8 p.m.
  • Location Details: Secure indoor bike parking is provided.

Interested in doing more on-the-bike adventures, but feeling limited by not having the right gear? OR, are you sitting on way too much gear that doesn’t really fit your needs? Well then, do we have the event for you!

Join us Monday, November 23 for a WeBike gear swap! Attendees are invited (but not required) to bring gently used gear to swap with fellow WeBikers. This can be whatever you think others might get use out of – bike camping gear and bike bags, commuting gear (panniers, rain clothes, etc.), cycling apparel, and more. If you don’t have any gear to contribute, we still want you there! Some of our amazing community partners have donated gear and helmets that we’ll contribute to the Gear Swap Pot. Plus, all leftover gear will be donated to our friends at Bike Farm. Win-win!

We’ll have bubbly water and light snacks to share, and attendees are welcome to bring more potluck-style snacks if that’s your jam. We’ll do it open-house style, so feel free to come and go whenever works for you during the event’s 6-8 p.m. window.

About WeBike:

WeBike is The Street Trust’s program to inspire more trans people of all genders, gender non-conforming people, Two Spirit, and women (both trans and cis) to incorporate a bike into their lives and use biking as a way to meet their transportation needs and personal goals. We aim to dismantle the barriers of cycling through rides, knowledge-sharing events, meet and greets, and mentorship. The WeBike-Portland private Facebook group is a resource, hub, and a way to connect with others riding in the area. If you have any questions about biking or great biking tips you want to share, post them there!

Gift Wrap Swap at Kindred

Unroll your extra wrapping paper, ribbons, and gift bags—let’s share the festive abundance!

Got half-used rolls of wrapping paper? A stash of gift bags too nice to toss? Bring your clean, reusable wrapping supplies and trade them for something new-to-you. Whether you’re a minimalist brown-paper-and-twine fan or a glitter-everything enthusiast, this swap is your chance to wrap sustainably (and save some cash during the spendiest season).

How it works: Bring gift wrap, tissue paper, ribbons, tags, or gift boxes (in good condition—no crumpled wads, please). Take what you need—no trade required! Swap tips on zero-waste wrapping (or just admire each other’s stash).

Why swap? Cut waste—keep paper and bags circulating instead of trashed. Save money—because gifts inside the wrapping matter more. Share the joy—community > consumerism, always.

No fees, no fuss—just guilt-free festive prep.
