Galan Trio

Greece’s Galan Trio performs at Pacific University as part of their Kinesis tour, bringing a program of American composers hailing from the West Coast, including Pacific University faculty member Ryan Francis. Their appearance is underwritten by the Elise Elliot Trust and is presented under the auspices of Greece’s Ministry of Culture.

”Kinesis” is Galan Trio’s attempt to explore the music of contemporary American composers
by bringing their works together in an original, multifaceted concert program. The project
draws from collaboration between Galan Trio and professors of composition from select
U.S. universities, and from the notion of “Kinesis.” Kinesis is an undirected movement of a
cell, organism, or part, in response to an external stimulus. In Greek, Kinesis means
movement, motion. Motion is a fundamental characteristic of all living beings; motion is
what all musicians worldwide have desired during the last couple of years; motion alludes to
continuity, and it’s a promise for the future of “Kinesis” itself.

Ticket Prices: $21 general admission. Free for Pacific students, faculty and staff. Online ticket sales only. Purchase tickets at https://www.pacificu.edu/musictickets.

Taste for Equity: Cultivate

The Nines, A Luxury Collection Hotel525 Southwest Morrison Street

Join an evening where chefs, winemakers, and farmers come together to share the harvest — an evening of food, land, and community unfolding beneath an open sky. Guests will rotate in small groups to taste a dish and wine pairing developed by three chefs and three winemakers from the roster of TASTE's past partners in three different settings around the estate. Then, come together for dessert and celebration during the golden hour program, culminating with dancing under the stars.

Supporting Adelante Mujeres means investing in the Latine community to cultivate opportunity, leadership, and resilience — strengthening the roots that help communities rise together. In addition to Adelante Mujeres, proceeds from this year's TASTE for Equity Event Series also benefit two additional powerful Portland organizations: APANO, uniting Asian and Pacific Islanders to build power and advance equity, and ELSO Inc., cultivating generations of innovators and problem solvers for local and global impact.

Party bus transportation from a central location in Portland will be offered to all guests for an additional cost at the time of checkout when you purchase your ticket. Please join and extend the evening of fun, and make sure you get home safely.

Seats are limited, and this event will sell out. If you’ve been to a TASTE event before, you know. If this is your first time — welcome. This table was made for you. Tickets are 75-$250 on a sliding scale. Lower-priced tickets are reserved for those working in the F&B service industry.

Ghost Show! The Reading of the TV Pilot

Twilight Theater Company7515 North Brandon Avenue Portland

Ghost Show! is the story of a group of people who have found themselves at the lowest point in their lives — making a low-budget ghost hunting show that’s in last place in the local ratings. But an accidental death (is she dead, though?) leads to a boost in engagement…and a whole new set of problems. Filmed both behind the scenes and as in-universe episodes of the show, Ghost Show! is all about failure, found family, and trying to make meaning out of the ghosts of the past — and future.

Join the Tiny Park Productions team at Twilight Theater for the launch party of the pilot reading of Ghost Show! Not only will you see and hear the first official reading of the pilot script, but you’ll also get to enjoy fun, spooky-season-themed activities and treats — think of it as a theatrical carnival.

There will also be a costume contest with Door Prizes, so Halloween costumes are encouraged.

Tickets include a free raffle ticket. Prizes include real ghost-hunting gear.

FULL SPECTRUM Immersive Art Exhibition: Opening Night Party!

FULL SPECTRUM is a group exhibition of Portland XR artists at Daydreamer Coffee and Public House in St. Johns, opening November 7 and running through the holidays. The framing: just as a prism reveals the colors hidden inside light, these artists use immersive technology to surface the hidden layers of the human heart. Visitors explore the work through phones, VR headsets, and AR glasses, so the show is as much about the viewing apparatus as it is about the images. The organizers treat technology as a way to amplify human expression rather than replace it, and the exhibition doubles as a growth effort for the Portland immersive community. Sponsored by Specs and the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication Reality Lab in Portland. Opening night party at 7315 N Fessenden S https://luma.com/7v1f7buz

Home Sweet Home: Ashley Anson

One Grand Gallery1000 East Burnside Street

One Grand Gallery is delighted to welcome back Portland-based Ashley Anson for her second solo exhibition with the gallery. Home Sweet Home expounds on Anson’s fondness for found textiles and materials and processes historically associated with feminine domestic labor. Drawing on traditionally gendered art forms such as quilting and embroidery, she combines textiles with painting and small sculpture to create narratives about the unseen worlds within people’s homes. Home is central to her work, a place that can hold peace, chaos, and danger all at once.

Anson transforms personal family folklore into layered narratives, exploring how stories imagined in childhood are remembered, exaggerated, and reinterpreted across generations. Her work also examines gender roles in art, asking what gives a painting masculine or feminine attributes and whether an artist’s gender can be sensed in the work. By combining the historically male-dominated practice of painting with embroidery and textiles, she challenges conventional distinctions between artistic mediums.

Join the opening reception on Friday, Oct. 30 from 6- 9 p.m. In the spirit of the Halloween season, the opening will transition into a party as the evening approaches. Costumes are strongly encouraged.

The evening will unfold as an intimate, cocktail-style tasting for just 65 guests, with winemakers and winery teams pouring their wines, sharing stories, and offering their unique perspectives on the vineyard through relaxed conversation.

Our friends at Hayward—named one of The New York Times’ 2026 America’s Best Restaurants and recognized by the James Beard Foundation—will bring their signature seasonal cooking to an abundant, Friendsgiving-inspired spread. The Waters of Non-Existance - Vishnu in Portland - World Premiere

"PORTLAND, OR — On Sunday, November 22, 2026, New York-based pianist, composer, and storyteller David Haney brings the world premiere of The Waters of Non-Existence: Vishnu to Portland, Oregon — an immersive concert work for piano, bass clarinet, bass, and spoken narration. The performance takes place at Augustana Lutheran Church at 4:00 PM and features two of Portland's most celebrated creative musicians: multi-reed master Ike Levin on bass clarinet and bassist Shao Way Wu. The Waters of Non-Existence: Vishnu draws on three ancient Vedic stories of the Hindu god Vishnu — the Preserver, the Dreamer of Worlds, the God who enters human life in moments of cosmic need — and reimagines them within a contemporary New York City setting. The result is an evening of music and mythology that contemplates what it means for the divine to live among us: in the streets, in the subways, in the silences between notes. The concert is drawn from Haney's new album, The Waters of Non-Existence, released in June 2026 on Ravello Records / PARMA Recordings — a work that has earned national press attention and critical praise since its release."
