How has the Jewish community shaped Oregon throughout its history? Panelists will discuss these questions and more in a lively discussion exploring Jewish civic engagement in Oregon, from building towns and holding office to advocating for civil rights, immigrant communities, and social justice. Speakers include Ellen Eisenberg, lead advisor to the exhibition and preeminent Western Jewish scholar; Ellen Rosenblum, Oregon’s former attorney general and first woman elected to the role; Paul Solomon, criminal justice advocate and grandson of federal judge Gus J. 2026 Election Debrief: What Does It Mean for Oregon Public Lands?

« Back to All Events 2026 Election Debrief: What Does It Mean for Oregon Public Lands?November 5, 20266:00 pmRegister The 2026 midterm election is days away and its results could have huge impacts on our public lands. On Thursday, Nov 5th, join the Oregon Wild team for our download of what the election could mean for our wildlife and public lands. Will we continue to see the unprecedented and, in some cases, blatantly illegal attacks on our wildlife and public lands from the Trump administration? Or will there be a different Congress that is willing to stand up for the public interest and hold the administration accountable? Will there be an opportunity to pass legislation like the River Democracy Act or Roadless Area Conservation Act that would protect public lands? Or will we continue to play defense, fighting off bad policy proposals that seek to eviscerate our bedrock environmental laws and sell off our natural heritage? How will the election impact state public lands like the Tillamook State Forest, or wildlife policy in Oregon? We’ll be exploring these questions and much more with our incredible Oregon Wild policy team. We hope you can join us! We will be raffling off a copy

Political Prisoner Letter Writing

We're hosting the Portland Anarchist Black Cross for a regular prisoner letter writing event!

Writing letters to political prisoners is a gesture of solidarity to break the social isolation of imprisonment, and to show those trapped in the carceral system that there are people on the outside who support and value them. Prison is a lonely place, but for a brief moment, an incarcerated person can live life outside of prison - even if it's just as long as your letter.

No experience required, just a little of your time to write about whatever comes to your mind.

We'll be hosting this event every first Sunday from 3p to 5p!

Clackamas County Braver Angels

Braver Angeles is a national movement staffed by volunteers at the local level. The driving mission of this movement is to bring people together to bridge the partisan divide while strengthening our democratic republic. It envisions an America with respectful embrace of political disagreements, where civic friendship flourishes, and competing perspectives strengthen us.

Conversations in these gatherings value respect, humility, honesty, and responsibility. The goal is not to change people’s views of issues, but to change their views of each other. Volunteers hope these conversations help to overcome the various division (rural/urban, liberal/ conservative, red/blue) in Clackamas County to build stronger community.

Hosted by: Clackamas County Braver Angels members. For more information, contact Michael Balter, Ambassador, [email protected]

Big Data? No Problem! An introduction to arrow for R

Working with data that's too large, too slow, or too messy for regular CSVs? Join us for an introduction to the {arrow} package in R. We'll explore how Arrow and Parquet files can make large datasets faster to store, read, and analyze, all while using the familiar dplyr workflows you already know and love. Using Portland's Biketown data, we'll convert, query, and visualize millions of rides without breaking a sweat (or our laptops). Bring your laptop if you want to follow along. No need to RSVP via Meetup, but we might share info ahead of time in the event comments!
