How We Show Up: A Zine-Making Workshop for Civic Action

How We Show Up: A Zine-Making Workshop for Civic Action November 7, 2026 Admission: $10 per participant Share × " class="share-btn"> Share on Facebook &text=How We Show Up: A Zine-Making Workshop for Civic Action" class="share-btn"> Share on Twitter Email Saturday, November 7 | 12:30-3:30pm Inspired by OJMCHE’s How We Show Up exhibition, this hands-on workshop invites high school and college students to make zines as a way to show up and create change in our community. Zines are a small but mighty form of self-publishing: Anyone can make, print, and share them to amplify ideas and inspire change. We’ll provide everything you need to get started, including creative supplies, templates, paper, pens, and a traveling zine library for inspiration. Every participant will make and take home a zine—no previous experience required. Just bring an interest in civic engagement and enthusiasm for creating something new. This program is intended for teens through college level participants. Registration is required due to limited space and closes on Thursday, November 5. The workshop will be facilitated by designer, artist and zine enthusiast Kelsey Snook . Kelsey has worked with local non-profit OK YOU to develop a not-so-secret zine society and spent more than 15 years creating participatory environments that bring people together. The book selection for November 2026 is The Mathematician’s Shiva by Stuart Rojstaczer. To RSVP for this Book Club meeting or to stay in the loop about the group’s activities, email [email protected] . About Book Selection for November Stuart Rojstaczer’s The Mathematician’s Shiva is a humorous, bittersweet debut novel about family that brilliantly captures humanity’s drive to not only survive, but to solve the impossible. Alexander “Sasha” Karnokovitch and his family would like to mourn the passing of his mother, Rachela, with modesty and dignity. But Rachela, a famous Polish émigré mathematician and professor at the University of Wisconsin, is rumored to have solved the million-dollar, Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize problem. Rumor also has it that she spitefully took the solution to her grave. To Sasha’s chagrin, a ragtag group of socially challenged mathematicians arrives in Madison and crashes the shiva, vowing to do whatever it takes to find the solution — even if it means prying up the floorboards for Rachela’s notes. Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World (2026)

Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World (2026) Directed by Sasha Waters Freyer. 1hr 31min. Not Rated. If poetry had a pop icon, Mary Oliver would be it. Best-selling poet and Pulitzer Prize-winner, lover of dogs and long walks in the woods, queer and out but intensely private—Oliver’s poems inspire liberals and conservatives, atheists and believers, naturalists and urbanites. She was America’s unlikely, contemporary mystic, stalking the ponds and forests of Cape Cod for nearly fifty...
