Gully Boys

Gully Boys

The Gully Boys origin story begins in the aisles of a Minneapolis thrift shop. Vocalist/guitarist Kathy Callahan (she/her) and co-worker Nadirah McGill (they/them) spent their days sharing dreams and building a friendship amongst racks of forgotten treasures. When Kathy confided her desire to sing in a band, it set off a groundswell of events: Nadi grabbed a pair of drumsticks, and the two invited middle school friend Natalie Klemond (she/her) to join on bass. From there, a cover of Best Coast's "Girlfriend" marked the start of a journey fueled by undeniable chemistry, channeling the raw energy of legends like No Doubt, Garbage, and Hole into a sound that's galvanizingly Gully.

Two years of relentless gigging followed, and earned Gully Boys the Best New Band crown by their local Minneapolis City Pages in 2018, shortly after the release of their debut demo collection, Not So Brave. Their anticipated follow-up EP, Phony, arrived in late 2019, just months before the live music world came to a halt. Inspired by this break in the action, the band added lead guitarist Mariah Mercedes (they/them), and worked with producer Zach Zurn at Carpet Booth Studio to release their Favorite Son EP (2021) and standout singles "See You See" (2022) and "Optimist" (2023).

Grounded in a bond as fierce as their sound, Gully Boys' electrifying live performances have earned them spots on SXSW stages, Audiotree sessions, and tours alongside Nova Twins, Motion City Soundtrack, Destroy Boys, Bad Bad Hats, and more. From the iconic stage at Minneapolis' First Avenue to national gigs that defy expectations, Gully Boys capture an ethos of equal parts anger and tenderness-fueling a journey that feels like it's just getting started.

Pollyanna

Pollyanna are a three-piece New Jersey band - Jill Beckett (vocals/guitar), Daniel McCool (drums), and Brandon Bolton (bass) - blending elements of loud rock, pop and punk into an emotional roller coaster of fury and catharsis. Born from the DIY touring scene, Pollyanna have become a force in the tri-state music scene, fusing pissed-off, "burn the world down" energy with moments of queer joy, trans pride, and raw vulnerability.

Following their I Surrender Records debut "Slime", the band are keeping momentum high with their razor-sharp new single "Gravedigger," recorded with Brett Romnes (Hot Mulligan, Mom Jeans, The Front Bottoms). With their new sophomore album, "Weirdo", Pollyanna are taking bold new steps, articulating the journey of trading hatred for joy, and they're just getting started.

Taste for Equity: Cultivate

The Nines, A Luxury Collection Hotel525 Southwest Morrison Street

Join an evening where chefs, winemakers, and farmers come together to share the harvest β€” an evening of food, land, and community unfolding beneath an open sky. Guests will rotate in small groups to taste a dish and wine pairing developed by three chefs and three winemakers from the roster of TASTE's past partners in three different settings around the estate. Then, come together for dessert and celebration during the golden hour program, culminating with dancing under the stars.

Supporting Adelante Mujeres means investing in the Latine community to cultivate opportunity, leadership, and resilience β€” strengthening the roots that help communities rise together. Ghost Show! The Reading of the TV Pilot

Twilight Theater Company7515 North Brandon Avenue Portland

Ghost Show! is the story of a group of people who have found themselves at the lowest point in their lives β€” making a low-budget ghost hunting show that’s in last place in the local ratings. But an accidental death (is she dead, though?) leads to a boost in engagement…and a whole new set of problems. Filmed both behind the scenes and as in-universe episodes of the show, Ghost Show! is all about failure, found family, and trying to make meaning out of the ghosts of the past β€” and future.

Join the Tiny Park Productions team at Twilight Theater for the launch party of the pilot reading of Ghost Show! Not only will you see and hear the first official reading of the pilot script, but you’ll also get to enjoy fun, spooky-season-themed activities and treats β€” think of it as a theatrical carnival.

There will also be a costume contest with Door Prizes, so Halloween costumes are encouraged.

Home Sweet Home: Ashley Anson

One Grand Gallery1000 East Burnside Street

One Grand Gallery is delighted to welcome back Portland-based Ashley Anson for her second solo exhibition with the gallery. Home Sweet Home expounds on Anson’s fondness for found textiles and materials and processes historically associated with feminine domestic labor. Drawing on traditionally gendered art forms such as quilting and embroidery, she combines textiles with painting and small sculpture to create narratives about the unseen worlds within people’s homes. Home is central to her work, a place that can hold peace, chaos, and danger all at once.

Anson transforms personal family folklore into layered narratives, exploring how stories imagined in childhood are remembered, exaggerated, and reinterpreted across generations. Her work also examines gender roles in art, asking what gives a painting masculine or feminine attributes and whether an artist’s gender can be sensed in the work. By combining the historically male-dominated practice of painting with embroidery and textiles, she challenges conventional distinctions between artistic mediums.

Join the opening reception on Friday, Oct. 30 from 6- 9 p.m. In the spirit of the Halloween season, the opening will transition into a party as the evening approaches. Costumes are strongly encouraged.

Celebrating 50 Years of Buzzcocks

In a darkening musical landscape where viral fads and AI-generated fakery share chart-space with the self-absorbed products of the nation’s stage schools, Buzzcocks shine out as a gleaming beacon of hope.
A constant, ever-evolving presence over the last 45 years of pop culture, the band’s legendary status will be set in stone β€” literally β€” with their inclusion in the Music Walk Of Fame in September, joining an illustrious roll call including David Bowie, The Who, Madness and Amy Winehouse.
The band’s never-better live shows, meanwhile, are electrifying reminders of rock music’s power to inspire, educate and inform. All delivered with an energy and conviction of a band half their age.
β€œIt’s my lifeblood,” says Steve Diggle β€” 68 years young β€” of a non-stop touring schedule which over the summer will see them play to thousands of fans across Europe and the UK.
β€œI’ve still got the fire in my belly. Some musicians get bored of being on the road, but I’m institutionalised. I’ve done 50-odd years of staying in hotels. It’s what I signed up for. Ever since I saw Bob Dylan in the back of a black taxi in (D.A. Pennebaker’s 1967 documentary) Don’t Look Back, I always wanted to live this kind of life β€” being interviewed in the back of a black taxi on the way to the studio.”

While most of their punk peers are content to traverse the globe in jukebox-style revue shows, Buzzcocks continue to move with the times, attracting new fans wherever they go. A case in point being the huge all-ages crowd the band pulled at the Iggy Pop-headlined Dog Day Afternoon in July.
β€œThere’s not a lot of intellectual or emotional thinking in music these days,” observes Steve. β€œPeople are being controlled. They’ll watch a video of someone falling over a banana skin and think they’re being entertained. They don’t realise the beauty of words, and the power of music. I’d like to think young kids who come to see us feel the same excitement I got from Little Richard and Chuck Berry. It goes back to the punk thing. It was about attitude and a way of thinking. We had the questions, but we didn’t have the answers. But the questions are the important thing.”

Chipped Nail Polish with Mckenna Esteb and Frecks

Chipped Nail Polish - Jill started Chipped Nail Polish with just her electric ukulele and a bad manicure. The project came to life in the basements and living rooms of the lively house show scene at the University of Oregon. The friendships formed there traveled up North to Portland where the band now resides.

Inspired by bands like Beach Bunny, Snail Mail, Soccer Mommy, FIDLAR, and Surf Curse, CNP is heavily influenced by the moshy surf punk music of Jill’s teen years, as well as introspective bedroom pop that has captivated her twenties. The result kinda feels like crying in a mosh pit, which is always encouraged at shows.

Mckenna Esteb - Boise, ID based songwriter.

Frecks - β€œFrecks” is comprised of one twenty-something member named Jayden from Portland, Oregon. Jayden has been writing music since her early teen years and draws inspiration from all aspects of her life. Pulling from concepts of introspection and undying love, she aims to tug on heartstrings with dreamy guitar riffs and haunting melodies.

The evening will unfold as an intimate, cocktail-style tasting for just 65 guests, with winemakers and winery teams pouring their wines, sharing stories, and offering their unique perspectives on the vineyard through relaxed conversation.

Our friends at Haywardβ€”named one of The New York Times’ 2026 America’s Best Restaurants and recognized by the James Beard Foundationβ€”will bring their signature seasonal cooking to an abundant, Friendsgiving-inspired spread. Since breaking onto the scene in 2018, he has been at the forefront of a new generation of internet native artists, leveraging viral storytelling, digital marketing, and direct fan engagement to build a global audience. By consistently creating moments that resonate both online and on stage, Sueco has cultivated a loyal worldwide fanbase while establishing himself as one of alternative music’s most recognizable voices.

Pee Wee Herman Pub Crawl

Meredith Walter, Jen LaneMap

Join us Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 3pm to 9pm for a playful Pee-Wee Herman-themed adventure through the Clinton/Division Street neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. You may see Miss Yvonne at Double Barrel, or cross paths with Cowboy Curtis at the Reel β€˜m’ Inn. You might share some fries with Pee-wee himself at Dot’s. Don your best Pee-wee Herman-themed costume and join us on this one-of-kind, epic bar crawl. The group will hit about half a dozen bars, all featuring Pee-wee themed drink and food specials. In honor of Paul Reubens, Pee-wee Herman himself, a devoted animal lover, we're donating 75% of proceeds directly to PDX Cat Trapper, a grassroots Portland feral cat rescue and registered 503c charity. If you love the world of Pee-wee Herman and cats, then this is the event for you! Tickets are $20 and available at https://peeweepubcrawl.com/tickets. The secret meet-up location will be sent only to ticket holders. During the pub crawl, there will be multiple costume contests, a Pee-wee trivia competition, a scavenger hunt, a sound-alike contest, dance-offs, and more fun than you can shake a stick at! Stick around for the after-party featuring a special DJ spinning records. Prizes will be awarded for the various contests at this time. The Pee-wee Pub Crawl is the brainchild of Meredith Walter, a devoted Pee-wee fan! She’d long dreamt of doing a pub crawl in tribute to Paul Reubens, so she enlisted Portland's pub crawl expert, former BarFly Bus hostess with the mostess and planner-in-chief, Jen Lane. Together, they enlisted the help of their fellow Pee-wee afficionados, prolific publisher and dynamic graphic artist, Jared Prophet, the noted artist, deejay, and event creator, Matt Stanger, and The Photobooth Chick, herself, Jocelyn Dean. Together, this dynamic team has whipped together a frothy day of pure fandom fun - get your Pee-wee Pub Crawl tickets today!

Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers

Mississippi Studios & Bar Bar3939 North Mississippi Avenue

β€œHere’s to life” Fans around the world can be found singing the chorus of the Roger Clyne-penned fan favorite β€œMekong” and toasting their glasses in unison to celebrate life through rock-n-roll. But the inspiration for the song dates back to the time Roger went to Taipei, Taiwan, as a college student to teach English during the day and busk with his guitar at night for money.

Today, as Clyne prepares to release his 11th studio album, he continues to transform his life experiences, inspirations, observations and his own muses into timeless music. And whether he’s wearing his Converse high tops, boots or sandals, Clyne’s blend of punk rock, americana, indie-pop and mariachi influences have made him, drummer PH Naffah, guitarist Jim Dalton and bassist Nick Scropos β€” collectively known as Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers.

Spanish Love Songs – The Cost of Living Tour

Over the last decade, SPANISH LOVE SONGS have watched a fiercely loyal community take
shape one cramped club show and one new listener at a time. That momentum has carried the
band to tours with The Wonder Years, Alkaline Trio and Hot Mulligan, along with appearances
at Furnace Fest, 2000trees and the revived Vans Warped Tour, following the release of instant
classics Schmaltz (2018), Brave Faces Everyone (2020) and No Joy (2023). This intimate,
powerful connection with their audience is proof that even in an era defined by isolation, people
are still out there yearning for others to stand beside them in the darkness.

That search continues on FUTURE NAUSEA, the Pure Noise quintet’s fourth LP. Drawing from
the widescreen ambition of heartland rock – the anthemic sweep of records like Born in the
U.S.A., Sam’s Town and Full Moon Fever – shimmering synths, ringing guitars and soaring
choruses define an expansive sound crafted across sessions with producers Chris Walla (Death
Cab for Cutie) and Sarah Tudzin (Illuminati Hotties). Against that backdrop, Dylan Slocum’s
characteristically observational lyricism remains the band’s beating heart: deeply empathetic
and unflinchingly honest as he chronicles political violence, climate anxiety, late-stage
capitalism and the quiet ways these existential crises seep into everyday life – and, just as
critically, how moments of love, companionship and shared resilience become the antidote to an
increasingly uncertain future.

Cigar Mercy Music Pretty Deadly Old Cross

There was a time when punk rock was dismissed as a fleeting fad, lumped in with disco and TV bands. But acts like The Ramones, The Clash, and later Green Day proved otherwise, cementing punk as a powerful voice of youth. Today, Mercy Music carries that torch. Led by guitarist and vocalist Brendan Scholz, the Las Vegas trio Ò€" rounded out by bassist Jarred Cooper and drummer Ryan Seaman Ò€" channels the spirit of punk's early days with raw emotion and finely crafted songs that resonate beyond fast guitars and angst.

For Scholz, punk was never about image - it was survival. He picked up a guitar at nine years old and found an outlet for the intensity of life's highs and lows. Mercy Music's latest album, What You Stand To Lose, produced by Descendents drummer Bill Stevenson, distills Scholz's knack for crafting melodic anthems wrapped in emotional honesty. With Cooper and Seaman's tight musicianship backing him, Scholz creates music that feels urgent and profoundly human, songs that cut through the noise of an increasingly cynical industry.

The heart of Mercy Music lies in the genuine connection they seek with listeners who feel like outsiders. "We've never really fit into one box," Scholz explains. Their music offers a lifeline for anyone needing a reminder that they aren't alone. Whether it's the desperate hope of "Believe In We" or the aching sorrow of "Waiting To Begin," Mercy Music's songs are unflinchingly real Ò€" never sanitized, always sincere.

Scholz has never let go of the drive to create despite setbacks and personal hardships. His partnership with Cooper, dating back nearly 25 years, anchors the band's foundation. Their friendship - part brotherhood, part marriage - has endured the darkest moments, allowing their music to be built on trust, openness, and resilience. Cooper says, "Brendan goes to dark places, and I'm there to help him find the light."

Mercy Music will spend most of 2024 on the road, delivering cathartic, no-frills rock shows that remind you what punk means: connection, catharsis, and survival through sound. Scholz says it best: "We're not reinventing the wheel. But I don't think a band is doing exactly what we do. And honestly? That's enough for me."

Pretty Deadly is a Dallas, Oregon-based punk rock trio born from what was supposed to be a one-off studio jam-but turned into something too fun to walk away from. Formed in early 2025, the band features Blaine (guitar/vocals), Travis (bass/vocals), and Zach (drums)-three longtime players with deep roots in the Pacific Northwest punk scene. Between them, they've logged time in bands like Drawback, Ninjas with Syringes, The Disliked, Faithless Saints, Burn the Stage, Lost City, and The Civies.

Pretty Deadly isn't here to reinvent the wheel. They're here to keep it loud, fast, and honest. Drawing from the golden age of '90s and early 2000s punk-from SoCal skate punk to the grittier corners of Northwest alt-rock-their sound blends melody and grit, simplicity and sneer. There are no rules, just whatever hits in the moment. Sometimes that means channeling sad or pissed-off lyrics through a pop melody played at breakneck speed. Sometimes it leans darker and heavier. But it always stays true to the core: no stress, no filler, just three friends making noise they love.

Less is more. No bullshit. That's Pretty Deadly.

Punk Rock

Rose City melodic punk band Old Cross pulls influences from the late 90's punk and emo scenes and delivers heartfelt anthemic choruses across basement shows, dive bars and national stages alike.
The band released their LP Dead End Lullabies October 2024 and just dropped their new EP Acoustic Volume 1 Friday, January 9th.

FULL SPECTRUM Immersive Art Exhibition: Opening Night Party!

FULL SPECTRUM is a group exhibition of Portland XR artists at Daydreamer Coffee and Public House in St. Johns, opening November 7 and running through the holidays. The framing: just as a prism reveals the colors hidden inside light, these artists use immersive technology to surface the hidden layers of the human heart. Visitors explore the work through phones, VR headsets, and AR glasses, so the show is as much about the viewing apparatus as it is about the images. The organizers treat technology as a way to amplify human expression rather than replace it, and the exhibition doubles as a growth effort for the Portland immersive community. Sponsored by Specs and the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication Reality Lab in Portland. Opening night party at 7315 N Fessenden S https://luma.com/7v1f7buz
