Portland Latin American Film Festival

Hollywood Theatre4122 Northeast Sandy Boulevard

Celebrating 20 years of cinema, culture, and community—a very special milestone celebrating two decades of building bridges between Latin America and Portland through film.

Over these 20 years, the stories have made audiences laugh, reflect, and feel deeply, while offering new perspectives on identity, collective memory, and cultural diversity. What began as a dream has grown into a vibrant community of filmmakers, artists, volunteers, sponsors, and audience members who believe in the power of cinema to bring the community closer together.

This year features the generous collaboration of musician and composer José Manuel Aguilera, who has authorized the use of his song "Confabulario"—from the album *Tinta negra y roja*—as the official theme for this anniversary edition. The official poster for the twentieth edition was designed by Gilberto Martínez and inspired by the work of renowned graphic artist Joel Rendón. Its visual power and rich symbolism reflect the creative spirit and cultural diversity that have defined the festival over the past two decades.

First Thursday in the Pearl District

Pearl DistrictPearl District, Portland, OR

Enjoy a vibrant outdoor street gallery that features 150+ artists who transform NW 13th Avenue into a bustling pedestrian scene that welcomes thousands of attendees each month. You’ll find an inclusive and dynamic mix of talented creatives, ranging from fine artists with decades of experience to emerging makers and designers sharing their work for the very first time. Guests can expect an upbeat, welcoming vibe where they can talk directly with artists, discover one-of-a-kind pieces, and connect with fellow art lovers while enjoying delicious foods from the neighborhood’s many bars and restaurants. The Pearl District comes alive with music, movement, and artist energy and with different artists cycling through, every month is a little different, making it the perfect event to keep coming back to.

First Thursday in the Pearl, started in 1986, is a district-wide celebration held on the first Thursday of each month, initiated by the founding members of PADA (Portland Art Dealers Association). Originally a gathering of art collectors and dealers, the celebration has grown into a monthly event attended by over 10,000 people, including art enthusiasts, wine aficionados, and scenesters looking to see and be seen. During this year-round, monthly event, galleries in and around the Pearl District and Northwest host opening receptions for new exhibitions. Many PADA members continue to follow the First Thursday schedule—keeping the tradition alive—while also hosting events throughout the month.

Parking gets very difficult in the area on First Thursday. It is recommended to take public transportation to the Pearl or park nearby and walk into the neighborhood.

2026 Election Debrief: What Does It Mean for Oregon Public Lands?

« Back to All Events 2026 Election Debrief: What Does It Mean for Oregon Public Lands?November 5, 20266:00 pmRegister The 2026 midterm election is days away and its results could have huge impacts on our public lands. On Thursday, Nov 5th, join the Oregon Wild team for our download of what the election could mean for our wildlife and public lands. Will we continue to see the unprecedented and, in some cases, blatantly illegal attacks on our wildlife and public lands from the Trump administration? Or will there be a different Congress that is willing to stand up for the public interest and hold the administration accountable? Will there be an opportunity to pass legislation like the River Democracy Act or Roadless Area Conservation Act that would protect public lands? Or will we continue to play defense, fighting off bad policy proposals that seek to eviscerate our bedrock environmental laws and sell off our natural heritage? How will the election impact state public lands like the Tillamook State Forest, or wildlife policy in Oregon? We’ll be exploring these questions and much more with our incredible Oregon Wild policy team. We hope you can join us! We will be raffling off a copy

Political Prisoner Letter Writing

We're hosting the Portland Anarchist Black Cross for a regular prisoner letter writing event!

Writing letters to political prisoners is a gesture of solidarity to break the social isolation of imprisonment, and to show those trapped in the carceral system that there are people on the outside who support and value them. Prison is a lonely place, but for a brief moment, an incarcerated person can live life outside of prison - even if it's just as long as your letter.

No experience required, just a little of your time to write about whatever comes to your mind.

We'll be hosting this event every first Sunday from 3p to 5p!

‼️As always, events are sober, sensory-friendly, and masks are required. Find our full accessibility statement on our site

District 4: 2045 Transportation System Plan Open House

Portland, ORMap

The Portland 2045 Transportation System Plan (TSP) is entering an important phase. We're now looking at roughly 275 potential transportation projects and working to determine which investments should be prioritized over the next 20 years.

This fall, we're asking Portlanders to review the projects and share which ones they think are most important. Feedback will help shape which projects are included in the financially constrained list, as well as those identified as important needs beyond available funding.

Open Houses are drop-in events, so come anytime between 5 and 7 p.m. You do not need to stay for the full two hours.

Location:
  • Multnomah Arts Center (Auditorium): 7688 SW Capitol Hwy
Open houses are occurring in all city council districts

View all open house opportunities

Can't make it in person?

An online open house and survey will be available October 19 to December 7. This survey gives you an opportunity to share your high-level priorities for Portland's transportation system and, if you'd like, provide more detailed feedback on which projects you think should be prioritized. Please note: If you plan to review the project lists and provide detailed feedback, we recommend using a computer or printing the project lists for the best user experience.

Clackamas County Braver Angels

Braver Angeles is a national movement staffed by volunteers at the local level. The driving mission of this movement is to bring people together to bridge the partisan divide while strengthening our democratic republic. It envisions an America with respectful embrace of political disagreements, where civic friendship flourishes, and competing perspectives strengthen us.

Conversations in these gatherings value respect, humility, honesty, and responsibility. The goal is not to change people’s views of issues, but to change their views of each other. Volunteers hope these conversations help to overcome the various division (rural/urban, liberal/ conservative, red/blue) in Clackamas County to build stronger community.

Hosted by: Clackamas County Braver Angels members. For more information, contact Michael Balter, Ambassador, [email protected]
