Description: Oils don’t have to be intimidating! Come join as we demystify this beautiful medium. We’ll learn the basics of material safety, clean up, what mediums to use, how to layer oil paints, and work on a painting! In this class we won’t use solvents or solvent based mediums, so no mineral spirits or turpentine with harsh fumes will be out. This introductory class is great for both beginning oil students and those with experience that are curious about reducing or eliminating the use of solvents.

Supplies: All need supplies are available for use during class. Feel free to bring oil paints, brushes, and a small to medium canvases if you have them, but no need to purchase if you don’t. We will discuss material choices in the first class for students who wish to purchase their own set of supplies.

Artist Statement: Aleksa is a painter and artist based in Beaverton, OR. Her work includes eclectic subject matter, but focuses on observing and reflecting beauty in all places. Primarily an oil painter, she often explores other media as well. In college she obtained a minor in Visual Arts. After spending several years in data analytics, she returned to focusing on her art in 2026.
