Liberation

Third Rail Repertory Theatre stages Bess Wohl’s Liberation February 25 through March 21, 2027.

It is 1970 in Ohio. Lizzie, a young reporter, gathers a handful of women in a rec center basement to talk, and the talking becomes something none of them planned. Fifty years later her daughter goes back through it, trying to work out why the ground her mother won feels so soft underfoot. Wohl wrote it as a memory play, with the daughter narrating and stepping into her mother’s life as she tells it. That doubling is the whole design.
