Creative Storefronts

Twelve vacant storefronts at eleven locations in downtown Portland have become windows of light-based art. Creative Storefronts features 12 installations by 18 artists, from interactive pieces that respond to passersby to detailed miniature worlds worth a closer look. The program is presented by Nightlab, the nonprofit that produces the Portland Winter Light Festival, in partnership with the Portland Office of Arts and Culture.

The installations are free and open to everyone, viewed from the sidewalk, with no tickets or reservations needed. They’re best seen after dark, when the windows are lit from 5 p.m. to midnight. Find them along SW Third Avenue, SW Alder Street, SW Fifth Avenue and SW Sixth Avenue, in buildings including The Director Building, Pacwest Center and The Newberry Building.
