About this event
Internationally renowned concert organist Nathan Laube presents an exciting recital of thrilling organ music from a wide variety of eras and locales. This one-of-a-kind program features a diverse selection of works by Felix Mendelssohn, Dieterich Buxtehude, Charles-Marie Widor, and more. Laube's 75-minute recital showcases both his dazzling technique and his profound gift of listening carefully to the instrument and eliciting from it a thrilling range of musical colors — a combination perfectly suited to the world-class Rosales organ. He'll explore the organ’s full range of tonal colors throughout the program, which is offered in celebration of the organ's 40th birthday this year.
Nathan Laube, a truly generational talent of the time, is one of the world’s most elite organ performers and pedagogues. He is Associate Professor of Organ on the faculty of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York and International Consultant in Organ Studies at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in the United Kingdom. His extensive international recital career takes him continually to major concert venues and festivals around the world.
Trinity's pipe organ, built by Manuel Rosales and installed in 1986, is one of the finest pipe organs in North America. Trinity Music is the professional music program of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, comprising the Cathedral Schola, Trinity Choir, and Choir School; a concert series featuring nationally recognized guest artists; and the acclaimed Rosales organ, all in one of Portland's finest acoustic spaces.
