About this event

Before it is shaped, it is transformed.

Set during the 1986 World Cup, in the aftermath of the devastating 1985 Mexico City earthquake, a community is shaken by grief and loss. Through magic tamales, a broken radio, and new connections, a family learns to reopen their doors. In Masa, playwright Salomón Maya turns a Mexican staple into a powerful metaphor for survival and transformation. The bold and evocative work centers around the elemental act of making masa, corn ground, mixed, and remade, and explores what it means to carry culture across generations. A heartfelt exploration of loss, resilience, and renewal, Masa is a tribute to the power of food, family, and the enduring bonds that help us rise again.
