Portland Piano International: Ying Li

Portland Piano International presents Chinese-American pianist Ying Li, winner of the 2021 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, in “telling such noble tales”: music the piano has borrowed from other stages. The program includes Stravinsky’s Firebird, Bach’s Chaconne in Busoni’s transcription, Liszt’s paraphrases on Verdi’s Rigoletto and Bellini’s Norma, Amy Beach’s Four Sketches, and Qigang Chen’s Instants d’un opéra de Pékin. A free pre-concert lecture with Bill Crane and Amelia De Vaal begins at 3:15 p.m.
