Storytime Stage Special Guest: BRAVO Strings Duo

BRAVO Strings duo is an enthusiastic youth string duo dedicated to sharing the joy of classical music with the next generation. The ensemble features Toetoe Sengprachanh on violin and Jin Nakajima on cello. They are proud to represent the BRAVO Community Orchestra (BCO) at this year’s Portland Book Festival. As an intergenerational symphony orchestra based in North Portland, BCO is a vital part of BRAVO Youth Orchestras, a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming lives through intensive music education. BRAVO actively breaks down barriers by making musical experiences accessible to all.

Driven by their belief that classical music is for everyone, the duo focuses on making string instruments approachable, exciting, and fun for young listeners. Their lively performances are designed to spark curiosity, inspire future musicians, and prove that classical music can be a thrilling adventure. This year, they are excited to bring their captivating sound to the Kids Stage at the Portland Book Festival. Families can look forward to hearing familiar Disney favorites and Vivaldi alongside the premiere performance of the string duo arrangement of original songs by Emily Arrow, who is the award-winning songwriter, author, educator and has been a long time host of the picture book session at the Portland Book Festival.
