Son Volt

Son Volt, led by Jay Farrar, brings together musicians for the creative interplay and unexpected discoveries of a band. After helping shape the alt-country movement with Uncle Tupelo, Farrar established Son Volt, which released three notable albums in the 1990s. Following a hiatus and three solo albums, he reassembled the group in 2004, and Son Volt has released nine albums since. The band’s latest release, Sound Signal Serenades, is a limited-edition LP. Farrar’s songwriting engages with overlooked and unsettled chapters of American history while imagining a better future.
