About this event
Come get your hands dirty, meet your neighbors, and help grow the urban forest of tomorrow in Forest Grove! Join Friends of Trees, Centro Cultural, and our Cool Schools partnership, a program that helps schools become cooler, healthier, and more climate resilient by expanding tree canopy.
Please arrive by 8:45am to sign-in and be assigned a planting crew. The planting starts at 9:00am. We provide gloves, tools, and guidance, as well as light breakfast snacks and coffee/tea/hot chocolate. We ask that all volunteers dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes/boots you don't mind getting dirty, and be ready to have fun!
How do I register? Register by filling out this quick form. Groups, families, and individuals welcome!
Forest Grove was the first location in Oregon where Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) was discovered in 2022, changing our urban forest almost overnight. Forest Grove High School was hit especially hard, with most of the parking lot canopy made up of green ash. These trees were monitored and inventoried by Centro Cultural's Climate Youth Leadership Program and SavATree. Now it's time to plant the next generation of trees. Trees that are more diverse, better adapted to a changing climate, and able to support our community for decades to come!
Under age 18? We request that youth 15 and under volunteer with a parent/guardian. Youth 16 and older can volunteer on their own and will need to hand us a youth waiver form signed by their parent/guardian.
Questions? Please check out our Volunteer FAQ webpage. Our team is also happy to assist! [email protected] / 503-595-0213 We look forward to planting together soon!
This event is in partnership with the Oregon Department of Forestry.
