About this event

Volunteer Opportunity Make a tangible difference in preserving a beloved public green space in Portland. About the Program Elk Rock Garden is among the oldest and largest intact private gardens in Oregon, open free to the public since 1959. Volunteers assist the lead gardener with essential gardening tasks that keep this historic, beloved garden beautiful and accessible year-round About the Project Volunteers help with a variety of hands-on gardening tasks including weeding, raking, planting, spreading compost, and wheeling yard debris to the compost pile. Tasks vary by week and season — for example, more planting in spring and fall, and less raking in warmer months. Volunteers with special skills such as pruning or landscape design may have opportunities to assist with more complex tasks. Spend meaningful time outdoors in a beautiful, historic garden.
