About this event
Settle into a mindful pu-erh tea tasting that explores how this time-shaped tea changes and reveals itself. Through attentive brewing and shared reflection, the session follows pu-erh’s path through soil, history, and craft, inviting a deeper connection with what is in the cup. The gathering is guided by D’Guar (they/them), a trans person of color, tea guide, and community weaver based in Portland. Through Water Fairy Tea, their practice blends learning with reverence so tea can be met as a companion in personal discovery, collective care, and relationship with the natural world. A sliding scale supports access for many budgets, with a suggested contribution of 35 dollars and the option to offer 25 dollars, the suggested amount, or more to help sustain this work and widen participation. To honor equity and address longstanding barriers, a 15 dollar option is available for BIPOC participants. If cost remains a concern, accommodations can be arranged so tea remains within reach. Everyone is welcome, with a request to avoid strong fragrances to support sensory needs and help maintain a gentle, respectful space where meditation, tea, and queer belonging can thrive. In reciprocity, five dollars from each participant is donated to Q Center, a nonprofit that uplifts LGBTQ2SIA+ communities through advocacy, resources, and safer spaces. This work acknowledges the traditional lands of the Multnomah, Clackamas, Chinook, Kathlamet, Tualatin, Kalapuya, Molalla, and many other Indigenous peoples, honoring their enduring presence, care, and wisdom.
