Galen Clark Trio feat. Dan Balmer

The Galen Clark Organ Trio brings a genre-bending approach to the classic organ trio instrumentation, exploring entropic soundscapes, psychedelic funk, and groove-heavy, electronic-tinged jazz. The music ranges from organ trio classics to soaring originals and takes influence from legends such as Jimmy McGriff, John Scofield, and The Meters.

The lineup features Micah Hummel on drums and Dan Balmer on guitar. Galen Clark is a keyboardist, songwriter, producer, and educator based in Portland, OR. He leads the soul funk collective Outer Orbit and the genre-bending group Trio Subtonic, and he is 1/3 of the NW collaboration Patterns Fly with D'Vonne Lewis and Andy Coe.

Dan Balmer has performed or toured with Joey DeFrancesco, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Les McCann, Javon Jackson and Karrin Allyson, Benny Golson, Jeff Hamilton, Gerald Clayton, John Clayton, Terell Stafford, Ingrid Jensen, Duduka da Fonseca, Kendrick Scott, Taylor Eigsti, Buddy De Franco, Bruce Forman and countless others.

Our Foundations Lesson is an hour-long beginner lesson from 6:45PM-7:45PM (and is included with the dance cover!). The lesson is great for folks who are new to dancing, curious about dancing, or just love dancing! Topics will lean more towards Lindy Hop or Charleston depending on the band playing each Thursday night. We hope to see you there before the dance starts at 8pm and we kick off another fun night!

strongboi

Wonder Ballroom128 Northeast Russell Street

strongboi is a fresh project born in Berlin, the result of a fiery collaboration between Ziv Yamin and Alice Phoebe Lou. Started as a passion project between two close friends, with a super lo-fi vision of using mainly Casio keyboards and toys, strongboi has now evolved into a full band project that still emulates its lo-fi beginnings but whose live shows take you on a journey from disco dance tunes to jazzy ballads, all forms of expression are on the table. Having released 3 singles in 2020 that put them on the map, strongboi is returning with their debut self-titled album, recorded at their studio, La Pot. The album is a fun and wild offering from the duo, spanning many emotions and influences but very much their own, as they ready themselves to take these songs to the stage.
