Slothrust

Forging a muscular sound out of contrasting sonic vistas that include pop hooks, theatrical melodies, jazz-influenced chord voicings, rock rhythms, and sludgy guitars, Slothrust ("sloth-rust") offer a unique spin on the angsty sounds of the '90s. Led by singer/songwriter/guitarist Leah Wellbaum, the group's label debut, 2014's Of Course You Do, included a track that was adopted as the theme song to the FX series You're the Worst. They continued to build and expand their sound with ambitious albums like The Pact and 2021's Parallel Timeline as well as the unpredictable EPs I Promise (2023) and Wildcard (2025).

The Aces

So far evolved from who they were when they first began releasing music in 2017, The Aces deserve the sense of celebration they feel in their new music. With 3 albums, over 250 million streams, and countless other milestones under their belts, sisters Cristal and Alisa Ramirez (lead vocals/guitar and drums), Katie Henderson (lead guitar/vocals), and McKenna Petty (bass) are in full form on their 4th LP, Gold Star Baby. Continuing to reach new pop heights, the band is rapidly becoming one of the genre’s most exciting and authentic voices.

The Aces have toured with the likes of 5 Seconds of Summer, X Ambassadors, The Vamps, COIN, Goth Babe, and have played at festivals all over the world, including NY Pride, Lollapalooza, Firefly, Bonnaroo, OUTFEST, Sziget, Pukkelpop, All Things Go, Summerfest, and more. After an exciting run supporting Louis Tomlinson’s 2026 North American arena tour, the Aces are ready to hit the road again on their own fall headline tour and are steadily continuing to release new music.

Songwriters in the Round

Artichoke Community Music2007 Southeast Powell Boulevard

“When we travel down those old back roads, that’s when we finally find our way,” sings Portland songwriter Richard Colombo — and that spirit of discovery runs through every note he plays. For over four decades, Richard has been a beloved songwriter, performer, teacher, and community builder whose heartfelt songs blend timeless storytelling with themes of love, courage, and joy. Known for his clear tenor voice, masterful guitar work, and playful energy, Richard’s performances move easily between the profound and the delightfully whimsical — especially when he breaks out his banjo ukulele. A night with Richard leaves audiences feeling uplifted, inspired, and connected.

Inge Hoogerhuis is a singer-songwriter, but that is not how she started out - a lounge and cabaret singer from way back when, who traveled up and down Highway 75, to Las Vegas, and then found a home on the West Coast. She has sung in grange halls to fancy hotels, for 20 people from the back of a pick-up truck to 500,000 in San Francisco's Gay Pride. But her favorite thing to do is to write songs that capture both the humor and melancholy of the West, and that ruminate over love and justice, lost and gained. You can catch her on Spotify or at local watering holes around Portland.

Wendy Emerson is a folk jazz guitarist and vocalist whose music is influenced by ballads and show tunes from the swing era, as well as folk and rock music from the 1950s on. Her repertoire consists of jazzy covers and originals about love and loss served up with a generous helping of speaking truth to power.

Brent Calderwood is a Portland-based singer, songwriter, guitarist, and pianist inspired by indie-folk, Americana, and the American songbook.

We would play goth, industrial, soundtracks, scores, indie rock, and more. Kyle really liked playing music from mostly small shows (some medium) we would attend.
We are planning to have some of the focus be on the dead or death or related topics to honor The Day of the Dead in our own way.
If anyone has any requests to add to remember or honor their Loved Ones, we welcome those songs. Even if you don't think they fit with our music choices, we still welcome them.

Marci

Revolution Hall1300 Southeast Stark Street

A longtime member of Montreal soft-rock group TOPS, Marci established Cikojevic as a solo artist with an intuitive understanding of pop as a vehicle for emotional catharsis. Four years later, Cikojevic returns with Mask Lady and Late Night Girl, a record of party girl anthems for when the party is over, delivered with love and compassion for the good times and great memories.

Collaborating again with TOPS bandmate David Carriere, Mask Lady has elements drawn from both the Y2k-era messy pop girlies like Uffie and Kesha and Cikojevic’s love of 80s power balladeers like White Snake and Def Leppard, along with the vintage synths that gave Marci a warmly futuristic aesthetic. Album opener “Stars Are Fake” calls back to funk-inflected synthwave with a tight drum pattern and a juicy synth line. “Butterfly Sticker” pulses with a melodic rhythm reminiscent of '90s classics like Savage Garden’s “I Want You.” Glam metal influences come to the fore on “Chaotic Princess,” written and produced with Mike Silver (CFCF), an over-the-top guitar-driven banger about a crazy night out on which Cikojevic begs an officer not to take her to jail—Eddie Van Halen riding shotgun in a car with Britney at the wheel. Of course, this is a Marci album, so there’s plenty of pure pop sugar, as on “99 Dimensional,” a bubbly Janet Jackson-esque dance track about a telepathic connection that lasts forever.

He started out making videos where he replicated the styles of various popular rappers, eventually parlaying this viral online content into attention for his own original music. Quadeca replaced the trends and tropes of commercial rap that made up his earlier work with a sharpened focus on musicianship, melody, and atmospheric songwriting on his 2022 album I Didn't Mean to Haunt You. The critically acclaimed 2024 mixtape Scrapyard continued in this experimental direction, touching on everything from Björk-indebted electronica to shoegaze to emo rap. Spanish Love Songs – The Cost of Living Tour

Over the last decade, SPANISH LOVE SONGS have watched a fiercely loyal community take
shape one cramped club show and one new listener at a time. That momentum has carried the
band to tours with The Wonder Years, Alkaline Trio and Hot Mulligan, along with appearances
at Furnace Fest, 2000trees and the revived Vans Warped Tour, following the release of instant
classics Schmaltz (2018), Brave Faces Everyone (2020) and No Joy (2023). This intimate,
powerful connection with their audience is proof that even in an era defined by isolation, people
are still out there yearning for others to stand beside them in the darkness.

That search continues on FUTURE NAUSEA, the Pure Noise quintet’s fourth LP. Drawing from
the widescreen ambition of heartland rock – the anthemic sweep of records like Born in the
U.S.A., Sam’s Town and Full Moon Fever – shimmering synths, ringing guitars and soaring
choruses define an expansive sound crafted across sessions with producers Chris Walla (Death
Cab for Cutie) and Sarah Tudzin (Illuminati Hotties). Against that backdrop, Dylan Slocum’s
characteristically observational lyricism remains the band’s beating heart: deeply empathetic
and unflinchingly honest as he chronicles political violence, climate anxiety, late-stage
capitalism and the quiet ways these existential crises seep into everyday life – and, just as
critically, how moments of love, companionship and shared resilience become the antidote to an
increasingly uncertain future.

After years in Toronto, Jurvanen moved with his family to Nova Scotia, where he began making music in a small backyard studio with local friend and producer Joshua Van Tassel. Bahamas

Revolution Hall1300 Southeast Stark Street

Afie Jurvanen does not spend too much time in cities these days. For nearly two decades, Jurvanen was a fixture of the Toronto scene, both as a valued multi-instrumentalist and producer for friends like Feist, The Weather Station, and Kathleen Edwards and as the architect of one of his country’s most celebrated artists, Bahamas. Jurvanen came of age across Bahamas’ first six albums, the restlessness of jumpy early hits like Pink Strat and Barchords slowly shifting into the generous domesticity of 2023’s Bootcut. But Jurvanen has long been drawn to open spaces, to a quieter life. In 2009, the year of his aforementioned debut, he began visiting Nova Scotia, the Atlantic Ocean. Over the next decade, his trips became more consistent, then more frequent, and then longer, until, in 2019, Jurvanen and his family of four finally made the move—nearly 2,000 kilometers northeast, to Nova Scotia. They live a lifestyle, Jurvanen half-jokes, that is “close to Mennonite.” The kids are homeschooled. No one has an iPad. Text messages can feel like miracles.

For a long time, Jurvanen didn’t know what to do with My Second Last Album. After cutting a legitimate country record in the city where the genre lives, was it a too-weird left turn to put out a loose-limbed indie-pop set cut in a shed? He thought about slicing it into singles or splicing it as a bonus onto some sort of future Bahamas compendium, maybe even shelving it altogether. But then he put the record back on after not hearing it for several months and had the simplest and most profound realization possible: He loved these songs, the way they sat together, the story they told about who he was at that moment—a married father content to live in the country alongside the very ocean where he surfs, a musician who often goes to his buddy’s house to casually make some music. It became My Second Last Album, one of Bahamas’ truly indispensable works.

The following album is populated by a grain of similarly unsettled people: a voter buried in credit card debt, a pair of Christian hearts clanking like trapped lobsters, a town of bent necks, a lover with limbs bent like crabapple trees. Sparta

Revolution Hall1300 Southeast Stark Street

It all started with John Candy. Some 31 years after the comedian’s death, Jim Ward was watching a documentary about him, and in it Macaulay Culkin—who had starred in a number of films with the late actor—said something that really stuck with the musician. So much so, in fact, that, after months of pondering and overthinking what Sparta’s sixth full-length album would be named, Ward decided that those very words—“cut a silhouette”—should be the title.

“He said that when he met John Candy, he just entered your brain and cut a silhouette,” says Ward. “Like, he just left an impression is the way I see it. And when I heard him say that, I was like ‘Oh! That’s what I want this record to be.’ I want it to leave an impression. At this point in my career, that's what I yearn for. I'm working so hard to make something meaningful to me, and I really want people to get a chance to feel it as well.”

Of course, Ward’s 30-plus year career in music has already cut plenty of silhouettes, first as a vital member of pioneering post-hardcore outfit At The Drive-In, then as the frontman of Sparta. The latter released their first album, Wiretap Scars, in 2002, second record Porcelain in 2004, and third LP, Threes, in 2006. Due to a couple of hiatuses, a fourth album, Trust The River, didn’t arrive until 2020, followed two years later by a self-titled fifth album. But there have also been a handful of solo releases, a collaborative album with poet Bobby Byrd, and an LP and an EP by Sleepercar, Ward’s alternative country project, not to mention successful anniversary tours celebrating those first two Sparta albums. It all adds up to a legacy—and yes, that’s the correct word to use—that has been leaving an indelible impression on people for a long time now.

Overcome by grief and a galvanizing clarity, Vance immediately resolved to create seven albums informed by the loss of his father—a traveling preacher who moved their family to the American South when Vance was a baby, and set him on his life’s path by teaching him to play guitar early in his childhood. At turns devastating and ecstatic and wildly illuminating, The Wake reveals an artist highly attuned to the task of preserving the human spirit in an often-unforgiving world.

Squirrel Flower

Under the name Squirrel Flower, Boston-bred singer/songwriter Ella O’Connor Williams writes haunting, melancholic indie rock songs that combine lushly textured electric guitar work with her rich and powerful voice. After a pair of independent releases, she made her label debut in 2020 with I Was Born Swimming. Her follow-up, the disaster-themed Planet (i), appeared a year later. Released in late 2023, Squirrel Flower's next album, Tomorrow's Fire, was more overtly rock-driven with grungy textures and an organic full-band sound. Following 2025's career-spanning Live at the Top Note Theatre, Williams collaborated with Babehoven's Maya Bon on a pair of tracks including 2026's "Wheels," which also included Billie Marten. That same year, she delivered the rugged Say a Prayer to the Gods of Getting Going, her sixth Squirrel Flower album.
