The Big Trans Comedy Show
Leapin’ Louie: The Upside Down Ocean
Leapin’ Louie’s new show: An ocean animal circus spectacular
It’s science, but you laugh so hard! Gastropod Cousteau (aka Leapin’ Louie Lichtenstein) is a nudibranch detective trying to figure out what happened to the missing kelp forests. Whales, sea otters, decorator crabs, giant squid and a peacock mantis shrimp help Gastro solve the mystery. And the story is told with circus and comedy! Featuring giant lasso, glow juggling, a 6 foot unicycle, enormous puppets and a slide-show of amazing ocean animals. You know him from White Album Xmas or the Rose Festival, Leapin’ Louie has performed his solo shows in 35 nations around the world including Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Brazil, UK and a few dozen European tours. He has toured opening for country stars Brooks and Dunn and the rock legend Primus. He makes adults laugh with family-friendly material and he gets audiences very excited. “Absolutely brilliant show and among the best science communication I’ve ever seen!“ Dr. Kaitlyn Tonra, kelp scientist “While acting the buffoon for much of his act his talent and sense of humor was always extremely sophisticated.” –David Cohen, Executive Director, Salem Art Fair “Lichtenstein, a multitalented performer, has to be seen to be believed.” –Portland Oregonian

The New York Times once referred to Rizo as “SENSATIONAL… A fierce but kindhearted fusion of comedy, burlesque, performance art, and rock ‘n’ roll.” Taking a cue from Piaf, Rizo (né Amelia Zirin-Brown) fully embraces the role of chanteuse. In recordings, she is a mysterious figure, a siren ushering you through tableaus of heartbreak, lust, and the murkiness in between. Live, she is an eyeful. An international cult favorite, her stage shows bring her powerhouse vocals together with seductive storytelling and wild hilarious audience experiments. Rizo is a provocateur with an electric wit, and has been called a “diva par excellence” by The Guardian. In the studio she has collaborated with Moby, Reggie Watts, and Yo-Yo Ma; whose album Songs of Joy & Peace, which features Rizo, won a Grammy Award. Rizo has also received a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, a Time Out London theater award, and a London Cabaret Award. Rizo recently starred in the role of Madame Zinzanni in the revival of the much beloved Teatro ZinZanni and is in development for a television project with Michael Carbonaro of the popular series “The Carbonaro Effect.” Making Movies:
Founded by Enrique Chi—a songwriter, musician, filmmaker, and activist—the Latin Grammy-nominated Making Movies serves as the primary platform for Chi’s creative mission. Rooted in the rich traditions of Panamá, a crisol de razas, the band’s sound is an embodiment of those diverse cultures, offering listeners a unique experience that feels both extraordinary and familiar. Described by NPR as “Perhaps one of the most unique groups around today, Making Movies is sensual, smoky, and seductive.” The band’s accomplishments include collaborations with legendary artists like Rubén Blades, performances at major international festivals, and tours with notable acts such as Los Lobos, Ozomatli, Hurray For the Riff Raff, Las Cafeteras, and Flor De Toloache. Chi is also producing AMERI’KANA TV, a National Endowment for the Arts-funded documentary series that explores an alternate history of American music, continuing their mission to inspire and educate. Their next studio album is set to be released in early 2025.
The band is committed to representing their mixed identity of Black and Latino culture and has been a vocal influence in the national health conversation around music as medicine. (For more and other community impact projects, see the group’s nonprofit Art As Mentorship). ALL SALES ARE FINAL. PLEASE, DOUBLE CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE PURCHASING. NO REFUNDS.
