JS Bach and the North with John Walthausen, Harpsichord
As a young composer, JS Bach looked to the cosmopolitan North of Germany for inspiration and guidance. Georg Böhm in Luneburg likely mentored Bach in the first years of the 18th century, and Bach earned praise from Adam Reincken in Hamburg, who said: “I thought this art was dead, but I see it lives with you.” This program features works by Böhm and Reincken, alongside Bach’s playful fifth partita. Tickets: $25 When attending Events at Reed, please park in one of Reed’s three on-campus lots: 28th Street (West), Steele Street (North), and Woodstock Blvd. (East)
Recital #2: Arwen Myers
Soprano Arwen Myers, a member of the Fear No Music ensemble, pairs 18th-century repertoire with new music in the second of the season’s two solo recitals by ensemble members.
