Valé Papi Fimbres

VALÉ is a fiercely talented vocalist and songwriter from Barranquilla, Colombia. Drawn to music at an early age, VALÉ began performing when she was just 6 years old in her school choir. By her early teens, she had found inspiration in American pop and R&B music, and began writing songs of her own. Influenced by some of her idols, VALÉ started to forge her own unique voice and point of view on the genre. She has spent time writing and recording in Los Angeles and Barranquilla, assembling a new collection of singles leading up to her 2024 debut EP, under the sun, and her latest singles, "estrella," "cold blooded," "lightspeed," and "rapido."

VALÉ's infectious melodies, catchy hooks, and standout vocals are bound to win fans from all over the world, establishing VALÉ as the leader in a new generation of Colombian pop artists. VALÉ has collaborated with artists such as Jesse Baez, Trinidad Cardona, and Angrybaby, and has toured with The Driver Era earlier in 2025. In the fall of 2025, she joined Between Friends on their North American WOW! TOUR!, and in the spring of 2026, she opened for Luna Luna on their For Siempre Tour.

Aside from Papi Fimbres playing in over a thousand bands in and around the city of Portland, Oregon, he also manages to find time to DJ when the opportunity arises. Whether it's '50s & '60s Cumbias from Colombia to Peru or '70s Afro Funk from West Africa, he's always bringing the POC vibes to the dance floors & causing a sweaty dance frenzy.

These Stones Remain: Sacred Masterworks from Tudor England

the tudor choir
+ doug fullington

Tudor England (c1485–1603) was deeply unstable — yet monuments of its Latin sacred music survived, including the Sarum rite chant used before the Reformation. This chant formed the basis of devotional works by Taverner, Sheppard, Fayrfax, and Tye. It appears directly in several pieces on this program — among them Sheppard’s deeply moving Libera nos, whose chant melody is shown here. This music is inseparable too from the stone abbeys and cathedrals it was made to fill. These Stones Remain restores these masterworks to their spiritual home, performed by the Northwest’s own Tudor Choir.

La Traviata

One of the most beloved operas ever written, La Traviata pairs soaring melodies with a deeply personal story of love and sacrifice. At its center is Violetta, an independent woman navigating desire, societal expectation, and the fragile possibility of happiness on her own terms. As romance and reality collide, Verdi’s luminous score reveals the emotional complexity of living authentically in a world determined to impose its rules. Tender, tragic, and timeless, the opera continues to resonate for its compassionate portrayal of Violetta’s vulnerability, resilience, courage as she chooses personal truth in the face of public judgment.

A graduate of Yale, Cantor Portnoy was invested both by the Jewish Theological Seminary and the Hebrew Union College. His two-volume work, The Art of Cantillation, now in its third edition, has for more than twenty-five years brought the skill and the joy of reading Torah and Haftarah to tens of thousands throughout the globe, and regularly remains among the most popular volumes of Behrman House Publications. His musical works are widely performed throughout the United States, and he is the recipient of frequent commissions. The Marshall Portnoy Anthology was recently published by Transcontinental Music Publications. It contains thirty-four pieces, many familiar but in new arrangements for solo voice and duets (including “Meditation”,“I Still Believe” “God Bless This House” and “Birth is a Beginning”), many previously unpublished (“Reckoning,” “Od Yishama,” and “Miracles”), as well as songs for children (“Our Sukkah is a Little Hut,” “The Four Questions,” “Eitz Yafeh” and many others)..

Cantor Portnoy is the founder and President of the Bloom Jewish Music Foundation, which dispenses funds each year for the composition and performance of new Jewish music. He is also widely acknowledged as the music scholar who “cracked the code” to Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations.

Raphaël Feuillâtre: Latin Passions

Hailed by France Musique as the new face of the classical guitar, Djibouti-born French guitarist Raphaël Feuillâtre regularly delights audiences and critics worldwide with his charismatic artistry, embracing everything from Baroque-period repertoire to compositions by trailblazing contemporary composers. His jaw-dropping precision, technical mastery, and creative vision make works from all time periods sound as if they were written yesterday–alive, heartfelt, and filled with color. Don’t miss a passionate evening of Latin music, including many of Feuillâtre’s own arrangements.

This program is approximately 90 minutes.

“The music…fitted the guitar so well that, if you didn’t know better, you would have sworn they were written for them. They fitted the instrument absolutely beautifully in these transcriptions and Feuillâtre played them with such a lovely sense of legato and an understatedly gentle dynamic that, by the time the interval began, I found myself in something approaching a state of zen.”

Quadeca

Revolution Hall1300 Southeast Stark Street

Quadeca makes genre-defiant music that bends experimental hip-hop, neo-psychedelia, alternative R&B, pop, bossa nova, and more to his whims. Over the years, he transitioned from a career in content creation to a more personal artistry. He started out making videos where he replicated the styles of various popular rappers, eventually parlaying this viral online content into attention for his own original music. Quadeca replaced the trends and tropes of commercial rap that made up his earlier work with a sharpened focus on musicianship, melody, and atmospheric songwriting on his 2022 album I Didn't Mean to Haunt You. The critically acclaimed 2024 mixtape Scrapyard continued in this experimental direction, touching on everything from Björk-indebted electronica to shoegaze to emo rap. Quadeca's fourth proper studio album, Vanisher, Horizon Scraper, appeared in 2025.

Tree of Life: Featuring the PSU Chamber, Rose and Thorn Choirs

In Buddhist thought, the Tree of Life is a symbol of awakening, wisdom, and the interconnectedness of all life. Its roots reach deep into the earth while its branches extend toward the sky, reminding us that each generation grows from those that came before and that our lives are shaped by the communities and traditions that sustain us.

Opening the PSU Choirs' concert season, "Tree of Life" explores these themes through music that spans continents and centuries. Performed by the PSU Chamber Choir, Rose Choir and Thorn Choir, the program pairs cherished works from the Classical choral tradition with music by a new generation of Southeast Asian composers. At its center is Indonesian composer Bagus Utomo's Gayatri, inspired by the legendary queen whose wisdom and spiritual devotion remain an enduring part of Indonesian cultural heritage. The concert also features works by Budi Susanto Yohanes, Ily Matthew Maniano and Matthew Lyon Hazzard. Several of these pieces will be recorded later this year by the internationally acclaimed PSU Chamber Choir at Skywalker Sound, offering audiences an opportunity to hear this music before it is released.

This concert will be performed twice: November 20 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, November 22 at 4:00 PM.

These Stones Remain

1739 NW Couch StMap

Tudor England (c. 1485–1603) was deeply unstable—yet monuments of its Latin sacred music survived, including the Sarum rite chant used before the Reformation. This chant served as the basis for devotional works by Taverner, Sheppard, Fayrfax, and Tye. It appears directly in several pieces on this program—among them Sheppard’s deeply moving Libera nos, whose chant melody is shown here. This music is inseparable from the stone abbeys and cathedrals it was made to fill. These Stones Remain restores these masterworks to their spiritual home, performed by the Northwest’s own Tudor Choir.
