Speakers include Ellen Eisenberg, lead advisor to the exhibition and preeminent Western Jewish scholar; Ellen Rosenblum, Oregonโ€™s former attorney general and first woman elected to the role; Paul Solomon, criminal justice advocate and grandson of federal judge Gus J. 2026 Election Debrief: What Does It Mean for Oregon Public Lands?

ยซ Back to All Events 2026 Election Debrief: What Does It Mean for Oregon Public Lands?November 5, 20266:00 pmRegister The 2026 midterm election is days away and its results could have huge impacts on our public lands. On Thursday, Nov 5th, join the Oregon Wild team for our download of what the election could mean for our wildlife and public lands. Will we continue to see the unprecedented and, in some cases, blatantly illegal attacks on our wildlife and public lands from the Trump administration? Or will there be a different Congress that is willing to stand up for the public interest and hold the administration accountable? Will there be an opportunity to pass legislation like the River Democracy Act or Roadless Area Conservation Act that would protect public lands? Or will we continue to play defense, fighting off bad policy proposals that seek to eviscerate our bedrock environmental laws and sell off our natural heritage? How will the election impact state public lands like the Tillamook State Forest, or wildlife policy in Oregon? Weโ€™ll be exploring these questions and much more with our incredible Oregon Wild policy team. We hope you can join us! We will be raffling off a copy

Election Day!

Today is Election Day! If you are voting in todayโ€™s election and have not yet turned in your ballot, then you need to do so before 8:00pm tonight.
There are multiple ways that you can submit your ballot listed below:
Bringing your ballot to an Oregon Elections official drop box location before 8:00PM tonight. This is the best way to turn in your ballot today. You can the drop box nearest you by visiting https://sos.oregon.gov/elections/pages/drop-box-locator.aspx
You can also still mail your ballot as well. However, please note that ballots picked up from residential or USPS drop boxes may not be processed that same day. When voting by mail, your ballot needs to be postmarked with todayโ€™s date. The easiest way to do this is by bringing it to your local post office, going inside and specifically requesting the postmark.

Political Prisoner Letter Writing

We're hosting the Portland Anarchist Black Cross for a regular prisoner letter writing event!

Writing letters to political prisoners is a gesture of solidarity to break the social isolation of imprisonment, and to show those trapped in the carceral system that there are people on the outside who support and value them. Prison is a lonely place, but for a brief moment, an incarcerated person can live life outside of prison - even if it's just as long as your letter.

No experience required, just a little of your time to write about whatever comes to your mind.

We'll be hosting this event every first Sunday from 3p to 5p!

District 4: 2045 Transportation System Plan Open House

Portland, ORMap

The Portland 2045 Transportation System Plan (TSP) is entering an important phase. We're now looking at roughly 275 potential transportation projects and working to determine which investments should be prioritized over the next 20 years.

This fall, we're asking Portlanders to review the projects and share which ones they think are most important. Feedback will help shape which projects are included in the financially constrained list, as well as those identified as important needs beyond available funding.

Open Houses are drop-in events, so come anytime between 5 and 7 p.m. You do not need to stay for the full two hours.

Location:

Open houses are occurring in all city council districts

Can't make it in person?

An online open house and survey will be available October 19 to December 7. This survey gives you an opportunity to share your high-level priorities for Portland's transportation system and, if you'd like, provide more detailed feedback on which projects you think should be prioritized. It envisions an America with respectful embrace of political disagreements, where civic friendship flourishes, and competing perspectives strengthen us.

Conversations in these gatherings value respect, humility, honesty, and responsibility. The goal is not to change peopleโ€™s views of issues, but to change their views of each other. Volunteers hope these conversations help to overcome the various division (rural/urban, liberal/ conservative, red/blue) in Clackamas County to build stronger community.

West LinnMap

The Friends of Maddax Woods invite you to enjoy the special features in and around Maddax Woods.

Historic, cultural and natural features abound in this intimate setting:

*Remnants of Virgil Maddax' boat-building barn and exposed launch rails to the river channel.

*Native and exotic plantings reminiscent of Dorothy Maddax gardens.

*Overlooks to the Willamette River and river channel to Goat Island.....with one of the largest nesting sites in the Portland Metro area for great blue herons.

*Rustic trails leading northwest to Burnside Park and southwest to the West Linn Public Library.

*Abundant perennial and annual shrubs, ferns, trees, flowering plants and creatures of all kinds.

A non-profit organization, the Friends of Maddax Woods (FOMW) works throughout the year to help the City maintain this 7 acre pristine natural woodland habitat. Interpretive signage has been posted for year-round information and volunteer led public events are held several times a year.

Donations to support the work of the Friends are graciously accepted: IRS 501(c)3 #419897-99.

Tax deductible donations can be sent to: Friends of Maddax Woods P.O. Box 481, West Linn, OR 97068

Communications to the FOMW board can be sent to: [email protected]
Comments, stories and photos of your woodland experiences are welcome.

The Friends invite you to join monthly work parties or attend monthly board meetings to share ideas and help extend the work of the Friends and enhance the features of the Woods.

To help maintain the property, SOLVE cleanups, hosted by FOMW are held the 3rd Saturday of each month, January through December. Work parties meet at the kiosk picnic table from 9am - noon. SOLVE volunteers (those who sign up through the SOLVE system) join individual drop-in volunteers from the surrounding community. Unaccompanied youth volunteers under the age of 16 must have a parent's signature at time of sign-in.

Friends of Maddax Woods meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month, January to October. No meeting in November. Special year-end meeting the first Thursday of December.
