JOSEPH â 10 Year Anniversary of âIâm Alone, No Youâre Notâ
JOSEPH is the Oregon-bred sister trio of Natalie, Allie, and Meegan Closner, known for
their powerful harmonies, emotionally honest songwriting, and genre-blurring blend of
indie pop, folk, and rock. Since releasing their breakout debut Iâm Alone, No
Youâre Not in 2016âwhich featured their hit single âWhite Flagâ and landed them
on The Tonight Show, TODAY, and the Billboard chartsâthe band has steadily built a
devoted following through gripping live performances, national tours, and appearances
at major festivals including Coachella, Glastonbury, and Bonnaroo.
Over the years, JOSEPH has released a string of critically acclaimed records
including Good Luck, Kid (2019) and The Sun (2023), praised for their rich vocal
arrangements andsoul-baring lyricism. Their most recent release Closer to Happy (2026)
marks their boldest and most personal work to date. Co-produced with Luke Niccoli (Carly
Rae Jepsen, Miya Folick), the project explores themes of grief, self-trust, and radical selfacceptance.
Whether through triumphant anthems like âI Believe In Myselfâ or gut-punch
ballads like âBye and Bye,â JOSEPH continues to turn lived experience into songs that
resonate far beyond the surface.

Chris Smither
Alberta Rose Theatre is proud to present the legendary Chris Smither. Born in Miami, during World War II, Chris Smither grew up in New Orleans where he first started playing music as a child. The son of a Tulane University professor, he was taught the rudiments of instrumentation by his uncle on his motherâs ukulele. âUncle Howard,â Smither says, âshowed me that if you knew three chords, you could play a lot of the songs you heard on the radio. And if you knew four chords, you could pretty much rule the world.â With that bit of knowledge under his belt, he was hooked. âIâd loved acoustic music â specifically the blues â ever since I first heard Lightninâ Hopkinsâ Blues In My Bottle album. I couldnât believe the sound Hopkins got. At first I thought it was two guys playing guitar. My style, to a degree, came out of trying to imitate that sound I heard.â
The 20th release, All About the Bones (release date: May 3, 2024 on Signature Sounds/Mighty Albert, distributed by Redeye) is as elemental as the inky black shadows cast by a shockingly bright moon. Featuring eight brand new Chris Smither songs and Smither renditions of Eliza Gilkysonâs âCalm Before the Stormâ and also Tom Pettyâs âTime to Move Onâ, the listener is welcomed into some gothic mansion on an imaginary New Orleans street, and there in the lamplit parlor confronts the band, a minimalist skeleton crew: Smitherâs inimitable propulsive guitar and rumbling baritone are joined seamlessly to producer David Goodrichâs carpetbag of instruments, Zak Trojanoâs rock-steady, primal drumming, BettySooâs diaphanous harmony vocals, and the flat, mournful flood of Jazz legend Chris Cheekâs saxophone. Recorded at Sonelab Studios in Easthampton MA by Justin Pizzoferrato All About the Bones has a feel that is somehow baroque and austere at once.
In 2026, the independent film The Singers, in which Chris made his acting debut, won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short. Directed by Sam Davis, Chris joined producer Jack Piatt and fellow cast members at the Oscars to celebrate.
