Search and Destroy: A Multimedia Variety Show

Performance Works NorthWest4625 Southeast 67th Avenue

Search and Destroy (S.A.D. for short) is a multimedia variety show happening on the last friday of every month featuring artists and local leaders sharing their craft and talking about what matters most to them. Through storytelling, live conversations, audience interaction, and heavy doses of honesty and humor, S.A.D. seeks to give hope and to be an entertaining and informative space for all to have fun, let loose, and be reminded that we as a people have the agency and ability to initiate change by working together as one.

S.A.D. was partly inspired by late-night television talk shows and variety hours and follows a similar format: an eye-catching opening number, a charming Emcee willing to play the fool, and a shared evening of dance, music, film, comedy, and conversations/interviews, all loosely tied to a theme of the night. The show ends with a dance party where the audience is invited to join the party on stage.
One of the main goals of each S.A.D. show is to dissolve the separation between artist and audience by directly engaging, conversing, and interacting with the audience, inviting them to participate in their seats as well as on the stage.
Every show features dance movement, improvisation, visual imagery and soundscapes, conversations and spoken word, and various bits that play with the blurring of boundaries between the scripted and unscripted, all through an honest and humorous lens and the intention to entertain, educate, and inspire. Each episode of S.A.D. showcases different artists and acts than the previous one, guaranteeing that every iteration is unique and can only be experienced once.
S.A.D. is a show for everybody and every body, regardless of their identity, background, age, and anything else used to describe oneself.

*Revenue generated from each show is split evenly amongst the contributing artists

Marigolds y Memorias

Marigolds y Memorias is an original devised production inspired by the traveling carpa tradition, in which humor, music, and storytelling come together in a vibrant theatrical journey. Guided by an elder, a younger generation learns to build an altar, the heart of DĂa de Muertos, discovering the meaning behind each of its elements, from candles and marigolds to photographs, ofrendas, and cherished recuerdos. Through song, dance, and short theatrical vignettes, the altar gradually takes shape as an act of remembrance and cultural inheritance, inviting audiences to consider how traditions are taught, how memory is kept alive, and what is carried forward when we share rituals across generations.

Ghost Show! The Reading of the TV Pilot

Twilight Theater Company7515 North Brandon Avenue Portland

Ghost Show! is the story of a group of people who have found themselves at the lowest point in their lives — making a low-budget ghost hunting show that’s in last place in the local ratings. But an accidental death (is she dead, though?) leads to a boost in engagement…and a whole new set of problems. Filmed both behind the scenes and as in-universe episodes of the show, Ghost Show! is all about failure, found family, and trying to make meaning out of the ghosts of the past — and future.

Join the Tiny Park Productions team at Twilight Theater for the launch party of the pilot reading of Ghost Show! Not only will you see and hear the first official reading of the pilot script, but you’ll also get to enjoy fun, spooky-season-themed activities and treats — think of it as a theatrical carnival.

There will also be a costume contest with Door Prizes, so Halloween costumes are encouraged.

Tickets include a free raffle ticket. Prizes include real ghost-hunting gear.

Home Sweet Home: Ashley Anson

One Grand Gallery1000 East Burnside Street

One Grand Gallery is delighted to welcome back Portland-based Ashley Anson for her second solo exhibition with the gallery. Home Sweet Home expounds on Anson’s fondness for found textiles and materials and processes historically associated with feminine domestic labor. Drawing on traditionally gendered art forms such as quilting and embroidery, she combines textiles with painting and small sculpture to create narratives about the unseen worlds within people’s homes. Home is central to her work, a place that can hold peace, chaos, and danger all at once.

Anson transforms personal family folklore into layered narratives, exploring how stories imagined in childhood are remembered, exaggerated, and reinterpreted across generations. Her work also examines gender roles in art, asking what gives a painting masculine or feminine attributes and whether an artist’s gender can be sensed in the work. By combining the historically male-dominated practice of painting with embroidery and textiles, she challenges conventional distinctions between artistic mediums.

Join the opening reception on Friday, Oct. 30 from 6- 9 p.m. In the spirit of the Halloween season, the opening will transition into a party as the evening approaches. Costumes are strongly encouraged.

You may see Miss Yvonne at Double Barrel, or cross paths with Cowboy Curtis at the Reel ‘m’ Inn. You might share some fries with Pee-wee himself at Dot’s. Don your best Pee-wee Herman-themed costume and join us on this one-of-kind, epic bar crawl. The group will hit about half a dozen bars, all featuring Pee-wee themed drink and food specials. In honor of Paul Reubens, Pee-wee Herman himself, a devoted animal lover, we're donating 75% of proceeds directly to PDX Cat Trapper, a grassroots Portland feral cat rescue and registered 503c charity. If you love the world of Pee-wee Herman and cats, then this is the event for you! Tickets are $20 and available at https://peeweepubcrawl.com/tickets. The secret meet-up location will be sent only to ticket holders. During the pub crawl, there will be multiple costume contests, a Pee-wee trivia competition, a scavenger hunt, a sound-alike contest, dance-offs, and more fun than you can shake a stick at! Stick around for the after-party featuring a special DJ spinning records. Prizes will be awarded for the various contests at this time. The Pee-wee Pub Crawl is the brainchild of Meredith Walter, a devoted Pee-wee fan! She’d long dreamt of doing a pub crawl in tribute to Paul Reubens, so she enlisted Portland's pub crawl expert, former BarFly Bus hostess with the mostess and planner-in-chief, Jen Lane. Together, they enlisted the help of their fellow Pee-wee afficionados, prolific publisher and dynamic graphic artist, Jared Prophet, the noted artist, deejay, and event creator, Matt Stanger, and The Photobooth Chick, herself, Jocelyn Dean. Together, this dynamic team has whipped together a frothy day of pure fandom fun - get your Pee-wee Pub Crawl tickets today!

Apple Pie Concert

On November 10, 2026, Skyview High School Band and Dance Program (SVBD) hosts their annual Apple Pie Concert. This is a free concert open to the public honoring and thanking veterans for their service. Veterans are invited to attend and will be provided a free slice of pie & coffee. Additional pies, slices, pastries, desserts, and beverages will also be available for purchase to the general public to raise funds to support our band and dance program.

SVBD has a long history of performance excellence through music and dance. To continue this robust program for our students, we rely not only on our parents, extended families and students to raise money, but also on the generosity of our community and local businesses to sustain our program. With over 100+ students, SVBD consists of the Fall Marching Band & Guard (dance team), Winter Guard, Winter Percussion, two Jazz Bands, three Concert Bands (Concert, Symphonic and Wind Ensemble), a Spring Parade Marching Band & Guard, and pep bands for school events. These bands and dance teams put in countless hours to compete and perform for the community throughout the year. Skyview High School is the last school in Clark County to offer competitive Marching Band & Guard, Winter Guard, and Winter Percussion.

Through fundraising and community support, SVBD keeps the bands and dance teams supplied with the necessary support to keep the program functioning at a competitive level. SVBD assists with instructor fees, show design costs, musical and dance equipment, uniforms, maintenance costs of travel trailers to haul show equipment, and travel costs for the many competitions and events they participate in each year. For all opportunities, SVBD is proud to fund scholarships ensuring that financial need is never a barrier to a student’s experience.

Thank you in advance for joining us and for supporting our students and band program as they continue to grow and thrive.
