Mushroom & Lichen Dyes

Explore how mushrooms and lichens native to the Pacific Northwest can be used to make natural dyes. The class begins with a lecture about processing the materials, preparing fabric, and making a dye pot, followed by hands-on work with the plants. Participants can create a dye pot and leave with naturally dyed fabric. Bring water, lunch or snacks, a camp chair, layers, and a notebook and pen if you like to take notes. You may also bring a small item of clothing or another item made from natural fibers to dye. Street parking is available, so plan to arrive early to find a spot.
