Crescendo - Solo Show at Helvetia Wineries
A unique and exciting new musical performance based on Anthea Kreston’s memoir, Crescendo: Chronicles of an Adventurous Violinist. In Crescendo, her enchanting and deeply personal memoir, Kreston writes about growing up in a well-to-do but difficult family in Chicago, leaving home at sixteen, studying at the ultracompetitive Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia (Hilary Hahn was a classmate), then leaving it all behind for a commune in Oregon. With a mix of thrilling violin performance and spoken word taken from her memoir, Anthea brings the audience through the journey of her life through live music and personal anecdotes. Gratitude for the Unpleasant: SoulCollage Workshop
While it’s relatively straightforward to create a gratitude list of positive aspects of our lives, how do we cultivate gratitude for the less pleasant ones? Is it truly important, beneficial, or even feasible. Join us for a SoulCollage workshop where we’ll create cards and delve into the theme of the month.
POGO The Crown Maker | Walters Cultural Arts Center
Discover the extraordinary and magical life of Eva Castellanoz: campesina, wife, mother, cultural guardian, artist, and curandera.
After immigrating from Mexico, Eva worked the fields alongside her parents, but that was before she discovered her true calling—she was a crown maker. Through her heritage and artistry, she became a healer, binding the hearts of her community while surviving heartbreak of her own.
Eva’s life was full of everyday magic—from her childhood in Texas to marriage and motherhood in Nyssa, Oregon, Eva created a life that is full of art, community, and healing.
For 4th grade and up.
This is a free performance. No tickets required – walk-up only. Find out more at: www.hillsboro-oregon.gov/Walters.
