King Farmers Market

Market vendors and staff with a direct cultural connection will honor the tradition of Días de Los Muertos with a community ofrenda. Everyone is welcome to bring a pic of a deceased loved one to place on the ofrenda!

We are delighted to welcome Jenny Tseng for a cooking demonstration, highlighting the freshest seasonal produce sourced from our farmers.

Everyone is invited to stop by the Chef’s booth learn about the local ingredients she uses. You can also sample the recipe and ask questions!

About the Chef:
Jenny is the daughter of Taiwanese immigrants and a transplant to the Pacific Northwest from the Bay Area. Her love of local foods has led her to dairy farming in Western Massachusetts, supporting food pantries in Berkeley, and researching the school meal program at Oakland Unified School District. Now in Portland, Jenny supports farm to early childhood across the state of Oregon and caters food with roots in her family’s Taiwanese and Cantonese foodways. Her food systems work is fueled by a life-long joy in nourishing and building community through shared meals that preserve cultural traditions and celebrate diasporic creativity. She can be found helping her fellow farmers plant Asian veggies, befriending people at the grocery store, and organizing community events for those in the diaspora to connect with their cultural roots through food.

Established in 2009, King Farmers Market features over 30 farmers and food artisans in a family-friendly place to spend a Sunday. 1,500+ weekly shoppers are drawn to our farm fresh produce booths, hot food, breakfast & lunch options, live music, food demos, cooking classes and food & beverage artisan vendors. The market is located one block south of the vibrant Alberta Arts District, adjacent to King School Park & Playground. The King Neighborhood of Northeast Portland has welcomed this thriving farmers market that offers everyone in the neighborhood a fun and entertaining place to spend a Sunday.
