FREE SHOW – Grateful Puppy

Whiskey Puppy, Portland’s beloved boot-stomping, mule-shoving bluegrass trio, has been making messes on the floor of local bars for over 20 years. We are: Justin Auld (Redwood Highway, OR-7, Jam Busters); Rachel Gold (Flat Mountain Girls); and Travis “Tater” Harrison (Cocks in the Henhouse, Podunk, Maremoto, and pretty much every band with live chicken props).” Grateful Puppy, the duo version with just Rachel and Justin, goes deeper into the folk-rock-Deadish zone.

HAZL

HAZL’s music lives in the in-between: folk and pop, intimate and cinematic. Her performances are communal. She might crack a joke mid-ballad or hand you a piece of her heart after a final chord. You might walk into a HAZL show carrying something heavy, and realize that somehow, by the end, an entire room is holding it with you. There’s something tender and unguarded in the way HAZL crafts songs, like she’s speaking to the part of you that you don’t show to strangers. The part that might feel like too much and not enough. But she’s not a sad song machine. She’s funny. Warm. Like hug you didn’t know you needed.

Marin and Rare Company is brought to you by singer/songwriter Marin Seven. Inspired by bluegrass, folk, and jazz. Marin creates a one of a kind energy and sound with just one small guitar and one big voice.

Brendan Cope

Brendan Cope: Brendan Cope is a Portland based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer. An artist embedded in the idea of inspiring other artists, he makes music that is both familiar and impossible to place. Using unorthodox means to bring his works to a live audience that present people with the question of where “that sound” came from.

Red Meadow: Red Meadow is the solo project of Portland based multi-instrumentalist Addison Clark. His evocative and image heavy lyricism take the lead. Clark weaves intricate landscapes and zooms in portraits of flora and fauna along with deeply personal portraits of the relationships, memories and characters who populate them.

Amie: A multi talented artist, Amie’s clear connection to the essence of creating is palpable. Her music provides a different look into the world that is so often seen through the lens of photography. A songwriter who consistently pushes the boundaries of folk music with multi-genre sensibilities that provides a distinct, emotional, and immersive experience.

Forró Beleza

This will be a special night for all dance lovers!

Come at 8PM and get a Forró Dance class!

Josephina Del Norte: The Argentinian DJ, singer and multi-instrumentalist Josefina Del Norte will start the night playing a mix of Latin American Cumbia and Forró music from Brazil.

Forró Beleza: Led by Pyata Penedo, a Brazilian lead singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and owner of Figure 8 Sound Recording Studio, the band performs a variety of music from Northeastern Brazil known as forró.

Forró is a lively Brazilian music and partner-dance tradition rooted in Northeastern Brazil, where it developed through community gatherings centered around music, dancing, and social connection. Popularized nationally by legendary artists such as Luiz Gonzaga, its distinctive sound is traditionally created by the accordion, zabumba drum, and triangle, producing rhythms that feel both grounded and flowing.

The dance brings people together through a warm embrace, shared movement, playful turns, and a close connection to the music. Although it may remind newcomers of the intimacy of tango, the energy of salsa, or the grounded feeling of blues, forró has a joyful and welcoming character entirely its own.

More than simply a style of music or dance, forró is a celebration of Brazilian culture and community—and the best way to understand it is to come experience it for yourself!
