Sunday, Nov. 22 - Piano, Poetry & Songs with Naomi LaViolette & Beth Wood Concert begins at 7pm in the Sanctuary Singer-songwriter-poet Beth Wood and pianist-singer-songwriter Naomi Laviolette are teaming up for an intimate evening of piano, poetry, and songs in the beautiful Sanctuary at Moreland Presbyterian Church in SE Portland. Naomi and Beth discovered the delicious alchemy of combining Naomi’s calming, peaceful solo piano compositions (under the name Lucente Skye) with Beth’s moving and grounding poetry, and they can’t wait to share it with you! They will share these unique collaborations for the first set and then put on their singer-songwriter hats for a set of songs, stories, and harmonies. A portion of this event’s proceeds will support the Interfaith Movement for Immigrant and Refugee Justice (IMIrJ). IMIrJ works alongside communities and people of faith in Oregon to advance justice for immigrants, migrants, and asylum seekers through direct accompaniment of people facing detention and deportation, policy advocacy, and community organizing. As the needs of immigrant and refugee communities grow, IMIRJ has also expanded its direct services, connecting people with temporary housing, legal assistance, food, health care, employment resources, and other essential support. With funding sources shrinking while the need for these services continues to grow, community support is more important than ever. We are grateful for the opportunity to share this evening of music and poetry while raising awareness and funds for IMIRJ’s vital work toward a more just and welcoming world for our immigrant and refugee neighbors. For more info on IMIrJ: https://www.imirj.org/ All ages are welcome. Tickets are $20 for Moreland PC members/$25 General Admission in advance/$30 General Admission at the door.
