And what will separate this event from any other like it is that it’ll combine the Jam session, concert, and clinic experience into a collection of transformative moments for all involved.On the 1st Sunday of each month Christopher teams up with Montavilla Jazz to provide our city with an invaluable Jazz workshop that’s designed to adequately prepare young musicians for the most competitive musical environments in the world (namely NYC). Ward off the winter doldrums with this uncomplicated, light-up craft! At our tween program, participants will make a 4.5 foot beaded garland with an assortment of pony beads and a battery powered string of LED lights. Keep for yourself or give as a gift!

The Teen Table

The Teen Table is a relaxed, hands-on cooking experience for teens who want to feel more comfortable in the kitchen, learn to cook for themselves, and spend time with other teens who enjoy good food.

Whether they’re brand new to cooking or already have some experience, we’ll focus on building practical skills and confidence. Rather than following strict recipes, teens will learn how to think like a home cook—how to make decisions, work with what they have, adjust as they go, and turn simple ingredients into food they’re excited to eat.

We’ll also cover meal planning, kitchen organization, time management, using ingredients thoughtfully, making adjustments, and cleaning up. Most importantly, teens will gain the confidence to cook without needing a recipe to tell them exactly what to do.

Every class ends with everyone sitting down together to enjoy what we’ve made—because cooking is more fun when it’s shared, and learning how to feed yourself well is a pretty great skill to have.

The goal is simple: to help teens feel at home in the kitchen, make food they enjoy, and learn how to take care of themselves through cooking.

Inspired by the Cucina Povera philosophy of simple, resourceful cooking made with love, Leta brings old-world Italian warmth and a love of gathering around the table to every class.

No same day refunds, unless weather prevents class attendance. No call, no show do not get credit towards another class. For summer camps, I need 5 days in advance for a full refund. There is a fee that I do not get back when you cancel and that will come out of your refund. If you give less than 5 days, but more than 48 hours, I can credit you one future single day class. I cannot give any refunds or credits with less than 24 hours notice as I have already shopped for groceries by that point. No refunds for not showing up with any notice. Maker Basics Workshops are designed for Makers of all skill levels to come into the Fab Lab and learn something new with fun hands-on activities!

This week is an introduction to Soldering Electronics. You will watch a demonstration about safety, technique, and careers that use soldering. You will have a chance to practice your technique by using a soldering iron, and a learn to solder kit that has LED lights, switches and coin cell batteries.

The Fab Lab Staff are here to help walk you through your project and printing, and are happy to answer your questions.

Attending a Maker Basics Workshop is a helpful first step to visiting the Fab Lab during Open Lab Hours, where you can work on your own projects with the help of Fab Lab Staff.

There is no cost to attend. Materials are provided.
All ages and skill levels are welcome in the Fab Lab; however, this workshop is best suited for middle schoolers and up because of the required dexterity and risk of burn injuries . Please email Sarah at [email protected] if you have any questions. Youth under 16 must be accompanied by an active adult participant, and submit a completed waiver. (available in the Fab Lab)
