The Lost Table

El ZΓ³calo537 SE Stark Street

The Portland Grief House invites you to join The Lost Table, a welcoming space to gather in community, remember those we’ve lost, and share in the traditions that help us keep them close. Bring a dish, pull up a chair, and make a place at the table for the dead. Grief can be hard to understand, and sometimes what we need most is community, ritual, conversation, and food.

Together, we’ll explore how different cultures and traditions call to, honor, and make offerings to those who have died. In the spirit of DΓa de Muertos, we’ll create a shared space where the living and the dead can gather around the same table.

We’ll begin with a creative activity led by Mario Mesquita, inviting us to reflect on memory, food, and our relationships with those we’ve lost. Participants will be introduced to the ritual elements that will carry us through the evening.

Laura Green will lead a community conversation about intercultural traditions of DΓa de Muertos and other ways communities call to and remember their dead. Participants will have an opportunity to share stories, traditions, and memories, and to dedicate an offering to someone they have lost.

Bea Yeh will introduce the tradition of Hungry Ghost and lead us in making an offering to the dead. We’ll set places at our table for those who are no longer with us and share food as an act of remembrance and connection.

Our community offerings and tributes will be gathered at Ximena Morales’s altar, creating a shared space of remembrance that connects the different traditions and offerings brought into the room.

Throughout the evening, we’ll create something together through words, offerings, and remembrance. We’ll dedicate a community poem to the dead and close our gathering with a collective ritual of words, sound, and stillness.

Please bring:

  • A dish to share, plus any serving utensils it needs. Consider bringing something that reminds you of a loved one or connects you to a family or cultural tradition.
  • Please label your food with a card identifying any allergens or dietary considerations.
  • Your own dinnerware (plate, bowl, utensils, napkin).
  • A beverage for yourself, if you’d like something other than water.
  • A photograph, name, or other small tribute to a loved one for the community altar, if you’d like.
  • Please do not bring chips, salsa, or guacamoleβ€”Milagro will provide these.

The Portland Grief House is honored to continue this tradition, originally started by Side Yard Farm. El Centro Milagro is excited to partner with Portland Grief House to create a space for English- and Spanish-speaking community members to gather, remember, share traditions, and honor the dead together.

Slow Shapes & Softening for Creative Joy

Emily Wright

Join Emily Wright for a special offering that will weave together gentle postures, meditation and creative practice to unwind tension, tend to fatigue, and brighten intuitive, creative force. The practice will include yin yoga, yoga nidra, and a lightly guided, silent painting meditation. All levels and backgrounds are welcome.

$25 – the practice + all creative supplies

$55 – the practice, all creative supplies + a bottle of fine, natural scent, 5 ml roll-on. This special scent crafted by artist Catherine Haley Epstein blends natural, high-quality extracts of cedar, violet and apricot for a light, peace-inspiring aroma. A lovely add on to any restorative or creative practice.

The practice of Yoga Nidra is thousands of years old yet immensely relevant to our time. A systematic process of deliberate relaxation that combines breath, body-scan and imagery-based techniques to serve as a powerful antidote to overstimulation, burnout and exhaustion.

Yoga Nidra is an accessible go-to practice in any wellness toolkit for sharpening cognition, bolstering creativity and promoting a healthy response to stress. Through a 20-minute practice, studies have shown that it improves neuroplasticity, resets dopamine levels and supports healthy central nervous system regulation.

Additionally, its ancient wisdom undeniably invites in a deeper knowing of the soul. This more spiritual angle empowers a release of fear and unwanted habits and enables new alignment to authenticity, freedom and heart.

The Lost Table: A Community Gathering for Grief and Remembrance

Milagro – Miracle Theatre Group525 Southeast Stark Street

The Portland Grief House invites you to join The Lost Table, a resilient, welcoming space to gather in community and share experiences of loss. Bring a dish, pull up a chair, and share your heart in good company. Grief can be hard to understand, and sometimes what is needed most is community, conversation, and food. During the gathering, each participant will have a few minutes to share their grief in whatever way feels rightβ€”whether it's someone who is missed, something that has changed, a loss being carried, or an experience that continues to shape. While one person shares, the rest will listen with care and presence. Save time at the end of the evening to thank one another and connect, but please refrain from interrupting or responding during the sharing portion.

DΓa de Muertos and the month of November invite you to reflect on and remember loved ones who have passedβ€”a time to celebrate their lives and meet death not with fear, but with love, memory, storytelling, and even humor. Mario Mesquita will lead an opening creative activity exploring memory and the role of cuisine in honoring loved ones, building toward a collective community tribute. Participants are welcome to bring a photograph of a loved one or create an offering featuring their loved one's name.

Bea Ogden will present the Hungry Ghost tradition and make an offering for the community ofrenda, opening a cultural exchange around how different traditions honor and remember the dead. Mario and Bea will also guide participants in writing a community poem, inviting each person to contribute a line or dedication to place on the altar.

Please bring:

  • A dish to share, along with any serving utensils it requires. You're welcome to bring something simpleβ€”such as a bag of chips or fresh fruitβ€”or a favorite dish that reminds you of a loved one.
  • Your own dinnerware (plate, bowl, utensils, and napkin).
  • Optional: A beverage for yourself if you would like something other than water.
  • Optional: A photograph of a loved one to include in our community tribute

The Portland Grief House is honored to continue this tradition, originally started by Side Yard Farm. El Centro Milagro is excited to partner with Portland Grief House to create a welcoming space for both English- and Spanish-speaking community members to gather, remember, and heal together.

Sound Bath Experience on the Farm

ChamBurn Farm LLC20925 S Nursery Ln

As autumn settles more deeply into the land, join a cozy evening at ChamBurn Farm in Oregon City, just 20 minutes south of Portland. Begin with a short tour of the beautifully designed farm, then warm up with hot cider and a seasonal snack provided by chef Jim of ChamBurn Farm.

Under a large covered outdoor patio complete with a fire burning in the fireplace, Angela of Breathe Yoga will open the evening's practice with a grounding, inviting you to settle into your body, connect with the earth beneath you, and arrive fully in the moment. Then, Gabrielle of Hearthsounds Sound Healing will guide you into a 75-minute immersive sound bath. Singing bowls, gong, chimes, and other instruments will surround you in layers of sound and vibration, blending with the natural sounds of the farm: the crackle of the fire, the rustling of the evening air, and the occasional call of an animal.

November invites one to slow down. The harvest has been gathered, the landscape is changing, and nature is gradually becoming quieter. This evening is an opportunity to follow that rhythm, settle into stillness, and simply receive.

Embodied Insight: Psychology & Yogic Philosophy in Practice

Embodied Insight: Psychology & Yogic Philosophy in Practice with Giovanna Cafaro A monthly 2 hour offering blending yogic philosophy, mental health psychology, and movement through an experiential practice centered around a new theme each month. November Theme : Compassion: Meeting yourself with kindness Sign Up Sunday, November 22, 2026 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM Sliding Scale: $15-$40 View Full Detail This 2 hour offering integrates yogic philosophy and mental health psychology into a grounded, experiential practice. Each session begins with a short talk and/ or journal prompts exploring themes each month related to self-understanding, relationships, and the human experience, followed by guided movement to embody these ideas, and closes with space for reflection and integration. The intention is to support insight, connection, and a more compassionate relationship with yourself. What to Expect Each session follows a consistent arc while exploring a new monthly theme: Opening grounding practice A short dharma talk integrating principles of psychology and yogic philosophy Optional journal prompts with guided discussion and reflection An intentional movement practice designed to embody the theme Breathwork and/or meditation Time for integration and closing reflection The emphasis is on creating an experience that is both intellectually engaging and personally meaningful, offering participants the opportunity to connect insight with embodied practice. Key Takeaways Participants will leave with: A deeper understanding of themselves through both psychological and yogic perspectives. Practical and applicable takeaways to integrate into daily living. Embodied practices that support nervous system regulation, resilience, and self-compassion. Reflection prompts and themes to continue exploring beyond class. A greater sense of connection to themselves and to a supportive community of practice. No prior experience with yoga philosophy or psychology is necessary. Instructor Giovanna (she/her) believes yoga is an invitation to connect to self by embodying curiosity, compassion, and presence. She views yoga practice as a lifelong exploration of what it means to be human: navigating change, embracing uncertainty, finding meaning, and cultivating a more authentic relationship to ourselves, others, and the world around us. She first discovered yoga in 2010 while living in New York City. Yoga became a space that offered a sense of grounding amidst the constant movement of city life. After moving to Portland in 2016, yoga became an anchor through transition and a pathway to community. Over the years, her practice has expanded beyond asana into meditation, breathwork, philosophy, mantra, and self-inquiry. Embodying yogic practice in this way continues to shape both her life and the way she shares yoga with others. Giovanna has completed a 300-hour trauma-informed yoga teacher training and is currently earning her master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her guiding is deeply influenced by both yogic philosophy and existential psychology, and she loves exploring the places where these traditions naturally intersect. Each class is thoughtfully woven around a theme inspired by yoga philosophy, anatomy, and the shared human experience. You can expect authenticity, intentional movement, moments of reflection, a thoughtful soundtrack, humor, and an open heart from Giovanna. Her hope is that students leave class feeling a little more grounded, a little more connected, and with a deeper trust in their own inner wisdom. She is grateful to all her teachers and guides: Audra Carmine, Manorama, Christina Sell, Nancy Nomellini, and Chauna Bryant for all their incredible and deep wisdom. Flow State is a monthly, music-driven Vinyasa flow set to an uplifting electronic dance music (EDM) soundtrack hosted by co-teachers Karen Adamczyk and Alexie Heimburger.

Beginning with a gentle warm-up, use fluid dance-inspired movement to shake off the week, awaken your body, and sync with the rhythm of your breath. From there, the intensity gradually rises into a strong, athletic Power Vinyasa practice. Expect creative sequencing, dynamic flows, and building heat as you cultivate strength, mobility, presence, and full-body energy.

The class will wind down with dance before settling into a deeply restorative, long savasana. This final stillness allows your nervous system to integrate the effort, movement, and joy of the practice.
